Maine, the birth state of horror writer Stephen King, is no stranger to scary and spooky Halloween events. Enjoy these unique Halloween events, from organ-accompanied silent film viewings to a haunted fort.

Fright at the Fort VIII

Travel through the dark passages and watch for scary shadows. Get scared on Friday and Saturday nights this October between 5:30pm and 9pm. Admission is a mere $5 per person. Costume Contest & Silent Film: October 26, 2007

Wear your best costume and attend a screening of the 1920's film The Mark of Zorro. Organist Tom Trenney will play the Kotzschmar Organ, to accompany the silent film.

Old-Fashioned Halloween Party for Children: October 28, 2007

The City of Portland hosts the Old-Fashioned Halloween Party for Children from 11am until 2pm. The Old-Fashioned Halloween Party for Children includes holiday games, magic shows, holiday crafts, storytelling and music. An adult must accompany all children. The event is held rain or shine, and is free.

The Old-Fashioned Halloween Party for Children is held at the Riverton Community Center, located at 1600 Forest Avenue in Portland, Maine.
