Top Hasbro Toys of 2010 for Man-Children

K. Valentine
Even as a fully functioning adult in society, I still enjoy playing with toys. After all, all work and no play makes me boring and likely to set off fireworks in the office. Hasbro showed off a few nice toys that, while targeted at kids, filled a nice niche for adult man-children to get a kick out of between meetings, paying bills, and other adult chores.

Cuponk

I initially dismissed Cuponk as a repetitive piece of redundancy. Consisting of a ping pong ball and a gaudy cup, the object of Cuponk is to throw that ping pong ball into the cup. If you were too cheap to buy an official Cuponk, you could easily replicate the Cuponk experience with your own ping pong ball and cup. Or just play beer pong.

But it is the simple concept and execution that makes Cuponk so appealing. Game play is limited to your imagination. Simply place the cup in any location, stand or sit in a different location, and throw the ball in hopes of landing it in the cup. No two tosses are ever really alike. The cup lights up when the ball lands inside, which provides instant gratification upon each successful throw and encourages additional play. It does help practice creatively for beer pong. And if you were short a cup and wanted to risk shorting out the lighting element, you can always drink from the Cuponk cup.

Transformers Leader Class Starscream

I am yet to meet a male who has not enjoyed "Transformers" toys whether as a kid of the 80s or as an adult who is helping his kids play with their "Transformers" movie toys. For a Transformer toy that is both a nice figure to display and a challenging toy to transform, the Leader Class Starscream fits the bill for 2010. It is a highly detailed figure that matches the movie character featuring pop out weaponry in its arms. The conversion from robot to fighting jet is challenging yet entertaining and the result is a large jet toy that is great to display. It is the way Leader Class Transformers toys should be done. Who knows what the next year's line up will bring.

Nerf N-Strike Stampede ECS -60

Nerf foam dart firing blasters combine the fun of shooting guns willy-nilly with the safety of not accidentally harming someone permanently while shooting willy-nilly. With three 18-round clips and battery powered fully automatic firing, the Stampede ECS-60 separates the man-children from the children still pumping after each shot.

A little play always served as stress relief from the drudgery of everyday obligations, so have fun like boys with their toys.
