Top Hit Shows Returning to ABC Fall 2007

Chris Marcum
Get your TiVo ready. ABC has some spectacular shows lined up to return this fall season. Grey's Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Men in Trees, Ugly Betty and Brothers and Sisters are the top hits from last season. Not to worry you Lost fans it too will be returning later in the season. Let's take a look at what happened last season and what we can expect for this season.

Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy is one of the most anticipated returns this season with many changes that will take place. Kate Walsh's departure since her character has split off on to it's own series. I would definitely expect some cross over shows coming from the creation of these two shows. We also are coming back to the story line of Yang and Burke's failed attempt to marry. Oh yeah, Isaiah Washington (Dr. Preston Burke) he will also not be returning to Grey's Anatomy this season. The writer's left us at the end of the third season wondering what was going to happen with poor George, who is torn between two women and has failed his Internship. Not to worry George is sure to be back. We were also left with Meredith's half sister coming to Seattle Grace as a new intern. What drama will can we get out of this sibling rivalry? Maybe this is where the drama between McDreamy and Meredith takes a turn for the worst. Is it possible McDreamy fall's for another Grey? Even with all the character changes season 4 of Grey's Anatomy will prove to have an interesting plot. It has been nominated for 10 Emmy's including Outstanding Cast for A Drama series and Outstanding Drama. T.R. Knight, Chandra Wilson, Shandra Oh, and Katherine Heigel have also receives nominations for their work on Grey's Anatomy. Grey's Anatomy will be returning to it's regular time slot on Thursdays at 9pm. Look for the Season premiere on Sept. 27th at 9/8c.

Desperate Housewives

Desperate housewives left last season with many questions not answered. Will Edie Brit (Nichollette Sheridan) be returning this year or did she really die? Does Gabrielle (Eva Longoria) really run away with Carlos or will she stay in the political marriage? Where will Susan (Terri Hatcher) and Mike go now that they are husband and wife? Will Bree (Marcia Cross) be able to pull off the baby swap with her daughter? Perhaps the biggest upset coming to Wisteria Lane will be the new neighbor who appears to be ready to step into a rivalry with Bree. Who will win the battle over the pine tree? Desperate Housewives is a quirky little comedy which was also nominated for 6 Emmy's including one for Felicity Huffman as lead Actress in a Comedy. Desperate Housewives returns to it's Sunday night time slot at 9/8c starting Sept. 30th.

Men In Trees

Men In Trees is also a returning drama that you may not remember from last year as it's regular season was oddly cut short. ABC temporarily held the show to air October Roads first short season. Men In Trees left off with the pending birth of Lynn's child. The had started to heat things up between Marin and Jack, until Jack's ex comes back pregnant with another man's baby. Things quickly cool off and Marin tries to concentrate on her life in Elmo. She even buys a home that is a bit of a fixer upper. This seasons sneak peak leaves us to believe that Jack and Marin may finally get together. Men In Trees a great little drama with a lot of comic relief. Marin Frisk played by Anne Heche is absolutely superb in this show which will be airing on Friday October 12th at 10/9c.

Brothers and Sisters

Brothers and Sisters is also a returning drama that airs on Sundays right after Desperate Housewives. It has been nominated for 3 Emmy's. It stars Sally Field as the mother of five children. In their first season they begin by losing their father to a heart attack and having to deal with all that he left unattended to. In fact there are several big secrets uncovered including an illegitimate daughter. This is a great drama that has a top notch list of actors including Calista Flockhart from Alley McBeal and Rob Lowe from West Wing. We left last season with Justin Walker leaving for Iraq and the family throwing an engagement party for Kitty and Senator McCallistor. Kevin has a fling with the Senator's brother and Sarah is trying to fix her marriage after her husband made out with her half sister, Rebecca. As you can tell it is a drama that has everyone in a tangled web of some sort. It is the life of a big busy family and them trying to interact with one another. Brothers and Sisters returns to Sunday nights at 10/9c for it's second season which should prove to be just as much of a roller coaster as last season. With Justin in Iraq we know from previews that something has happened, so will he return is the ultimate question. You can catch up with Brothers and Sisters on September 23 @10pm. Season two airs on September 30th @10/9c.

Ugly Betty

Ugly Betty is returning for it's second season after having an amazing first season. Ugly Betty has been nominated for 13 awards and America Fererra has already taken home a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award for Ugly Betty. When we left Betty in the spring she was dealing with the fact that she had finally told Henry that she loved him and he was going to be hers, but unfortunately his previous girlfriend is pregnant and he is going back to Arizona with her. But is she really pregnant? We will have to wait and see. Betty's father is also still in Mexico and he has been discovered by the family of the man he supposedly killed for his wife from many years ago. Will Ignacio ever be able to return to the states, alive? We were also left with the tragedy of Justin's father being shot. Will he survive? We should expect great things from Ugly Betty this season after an award winning first. You can also expect that they will make a sweep at the Emmy's as well.Ugly Betty airs on Thursday's before Grey's Anatomy. Check out the season premiere on September 27th @8/7c.

The 2007/2008 season on ABC is sure to be great with these great shows returning and also a great list of new shows as well. The new fall season kicks off on September 24th on ABC. Check your local listings or ABC.com to mark your favorite shows on your calendar. Lost and October Roads will be airing their premieres later in the 2007/2008 season.
