Top Holiday Gifts to Give to Your Teenagers

Jesus Saves

Getting gifts for teenagers can be one of the hardest and scariest proposition. Given the kind of rebellion most kids are in and how it's encouraged in the society, getting the perfect for the teen that won't be "Uncool" is rather hard. The first thing you need to do is calm down. You are the parent. You don't HAVE to get them anything. Don't do it out of obligation. Do it out of love. Anyway, moving on to the best gifts you can give your teenager this holiday season:

A membership to a local gym or a home gym set - Getting them involved in the good exercise program is something that will be a great deal a good to your teenage kids. Not only will this help keep them happy and healthy, it will also help them get more focused on studies and working hard at school. This is something that they will appreciate a lot too. Scheduling something for them will also help them get more disciplined. Of course you can adjust this based on what your kids want - swimming, basketball or any sport, or you can even get a home gym set. This is something completely up to you, but believe it or not, a recent poll showed that more youngsters said that they would be willing to work out if were given the opportunity to. This is also good protection from depression, anxiety, peer pressure, drugs and alcohol.

Clothing - All kids like more clothing. Be careful of what kind of clothing you get though. You don't want to get anything promiscuous or something that encourages looking cool over looking sharp. And of course, make sure that your kids actually need more clothes. Don't just get something that says - here's something because it's the holidays and I had to get it for you...

A Bible and a set of tracts to encourage them to share the gospel with other kids - This is essential, and will show your kids how much you care and love them in that you want to follow Jesus and be saved. You can combine this with a camp trip to a warmer place over the break with a christian group. Be wary of groups that pretend to be christian but are really just social groups that follow religion. You want something with solid teaching on Christ and sincere worship of God so that your young one will get an accurate picture of who God is and start a relationship with Jesus.

Let them have a get together and pick up the tab - Restrict this to a small sized group based on the size of your house and also restrict who is invited. Don't let go of your duties as a parent over a party. You have to be careful with this as this can be an absolute disaster if not handled properly.

Concert Tickets/Game tickets - If your youngster is a music fan, get them concert tickets. These can vary over a large range, so you'll want to be careful. Good bands that I would recommend are Third Day, Newsboys, Casting Crowns and Desperation. Again, you can get them tickets to their favorite team's game - basketball, baseball, football...it doesn't matter a whole lot. The point is that they'll see that you're aware of their choices, likes and dislikes, and are actively involved in their life.

Reserve a spot for them for the Onething Conference - This is the conference held by IHOP - Internation House of Prayer once a year. This is an awesome place to send your teenagers, even in groups and let them pursue God. Check ihop.org for more details.

A gym membership and clothes would be the last thing I would want for christmas. I'd rather have videogames, music, stuff for my Pokemon collection etc.
