Top LCD Televisions Under $500

Ann Mapleridge
When LCD screen televisions were first released I was mesmerized. Truth be told I was first mesmerized a little earlier when plasma screen televisions were released, but I was quickly shocked back into reality when I saw the price tag on plasma screens. LCD screens have some of the same appeal as plasma screen televisions. They're flat and can be mounted onto a wall like a plasma television, but can be purchased for less than half the price of their plasma counterparts. So what LCD televisions can your purchase when you are on a budget? Here are the top LCD television under $500:

Magnavox 15" HD-Ready LCD TV
15MF605T/1

This fifteen inch LCD television from Magnavox is perfect for a small living room or a kitchen setting where you want a small television with great video quality. This particular television s HD ready, but is not already HD out of the box. In order to watch HD video on your LCD you will have to purchase a HD tuner or connect your television to another HD source.

This television is less than seven inches deep making it the perfect television to mount on your wall in places where you don't have a lot of space for a TV. The television comes with a table stand, so if you do not want to mount it on your wall you can still set it up like a typical television set on a table. This LCD television screen is progressive scan, which makes for the best quality picture possible. The television in addition to having great video quality is also equipped with virtual Dolby digital sound so your television programs movies will sound as good as they look.

Phillips 20" Flat-Panel LCD TV
20PF5120/28

This great LCD television from Phillips comes out of the box ready to use as not only a television but a PC monitor as well. If you are someone who loves computing as much as you like to watch TV then that can be a pretty fun feature to have.

This television has a surround feature with the sound that can make it seem like you have a surround sound speaker system set up with the television when really you are using the built in speaker system.

If you have children you will enjoy using the V-chip feature in this LCD television that helps you as apparent control what programs your children will be able to tune into when you're not around to supervise.

Toshiba 15" LCD with DVD Player
15DLV76

If you are looking for a smaller television for your bedroom or office, but are concerned about running a cable line to your television, then look no further than this Toshiba LCD television. One of the great features of this LCD television is that it has a DVD playerbuilt into it, so you don't have to worry about wires and cables too connect your own externally. While a DVD player is not the same as a cable connection a DVD player can be great when you're looking for something to watch late at night. This LCD television can accept a cable hookup if you decide you would rather watch actual television on your LCD.

The television has a component hookup, making it easy to connect your video game system or other component item to the television, as well as a sleep timer and close captioning for times when you are watching television right before bed. This is an excellent two in one for people who want to have a mini-entertainment center that takes up the least amount of space possible.
