There are lots of interesting places to stay in and around Glens Falls, NY. Although camping is one of the most popular excursions in this area, there are many hotels and B&Bs that provide less rustic places to stay.

One of the best hotels in West Glens Falls, NY is the Ramada on Interstate 87. Providing relatively inexpensive lodging with a full service restaurant, the Ramada is technically in Queensbury, NY. For those who don't want to risk the icy cold swimming in any of the nearby lakes, the Ramada in Glens Falls offers an indoor pool. It is a fantastic place for business trips, as well, with multiple conference rooms and high speed wireless internet. The free high speed wireless internet is a major draw. This hotel has always been remarkably clean when we have gone, and the service is always excellent. Rates start around $100 per night.

The Country Inn and Suites provides slightly more expensive but slightly more upscale lodging. The beautiful lobby brings the rustic look that draws people to Glens Falls to life, but the accommodations are anything but rustic. The suites are large and can fit a family of 4-6 comfortably. There is an indoor pool and Jacuzzi that stay heated during the cooler months. To my knowledge, there is no associated full service restaurant, but there are many in the nearby area. Like every hotel near and in Glens Falls, the drive to the Saratoga racetrack and Lake George are quite short, but this particular hotel is near Six Flags. It is a quick jaunt, and makes this a great hotel to stay in if your goal is to partake in some theme park activities. However, for me, the biggest draw is Martha's, the ice cream/hot dog stand across the street. Rates start around $120.

Scottish Inns in Lake George Village is near West Glens Falls, New York. It is a fantastic bet for staying right in Lake George Village and provides a great escape right in the heart of everything. The tourist center is within walking distance and can provide a description of the many activities available in Lake George and the surrounding areas. Jacuzzi and cable television are the biggest draws beyond closeness to everything. Rates start around $85.

If you're looking for something a bit different, The Glens Falls Inn is a bed and breakfast off Sherman Avenue in Glens Falls, NY. For beauty, this is probably one of the best places to stay right in Glens Falls. Unlike the chain hotels, the amenities here are not just chlorine-coated pools and cable TV. The music room provides a baby grand piano for guests to play, and the fireplace downstairs is a great place to get to know the others who are staying with you. Rates start at approximately $140 per night in the off-season.

For a bit of history, Memory Manor used to be the only place to stay for visitors headed through town into Lake George. Like The Glens Falls Inn, Memory Manor is a Victorian home bed and breakfast. Although there's no baby grand piano to entice guests, the packages made available by booking here allow you to make full use of the Lake George and Saratoga Springs areas.
