Whenever we would go to Vegas we would make it a point to see some sort of Magic show and always checked with our concierge as to who was appearing, where and when.
Over the years we saw some incredible acts, we were lucky to have seen Siegfried and Roy perform before the tragic accident that almost cost Roy his life. I'll always remember the night we sat on a table that was on the stage and looked up to see an elephant above us, then it was covered with a cloth and immediately disappeared...right above us and I never took my eyes off him. I've been a believer in the magic of illusion ever since
On other occasions we went to see David Copperfield who I am happy to tell you will be appearing once again at the end of this month at the MGM Grand Hotel. His show is truly amazing. I'm sure you have all seen one or more of his TV shows when he made a racing car disappear and even the statue of Liberty, his illusions are truly magical and once, when my daughters were with us we took them to see David's show. He threw 3 roses out into the audience and one of my daughters caught one. He then had her and the other two audience members write down a number at random and put the paper with the number into a box suspended over the audience. Then he pulled out his hotel room key and it was the same number as the three random numbers together...Now I am positive my daughter's number wasn't pre-arranged so I am a believer in his magic!
His show is expensive at $99 a ticket but well worth it for his entertaining and incredible performances.
There will be two shows a night at the Hollywood Theater at MGM Grand Hotel, where you can get your ticket information and reservations in advance
His show is certainly kid friendly

One of our favorite magical performers is Lance Burton and we've been fortunate to have seen him twice at the Monte Carlo Hotel where a special theater was built for his show. He's been performing there for more then 10 years, one of the longest running shows in Vegas. I must say he has astounded me with every illusion he has performed as well as everyone else who goes to see his show. He is a class act, wearing a tuxedo as he enters the stage where he immediately transforms something into something else right before your eyes. From birds emerging out of a piece of paper to detailed and levitation illusions, he knows how to captivate and thrill an audience, from the first trick to the last, you will be shaking your head in amazement. Lance Burton is also very kid friendly, he actually pulls kids out of the audience to participate.
He performs everyday except Sundays and Mondays...Reservations are suggested

A very quirky and unusual magician is Mac King who appears at the Harrah Hotel. He combines jokes and magic and gears his act towards the young crowd.
He seems to start with simple tricks which get more complex as he jokes with the audience and gets them involved with the show itself. He works with Fig Newton's and even gold fish. Any item can end up being the object of his magic.
The audience loves his outrageous comedy and he hardly does any two of the same shows twice.
Awarded the "Magician of the Year, he also holds the Guinness Book of World Records title "World's Longest Game of Telephone/Chinese Whisper."
When the "The Mac King Comedy Magic Show" debuted at Harrah's, it was an immediate success and friends of mine have told me not to miss his show next time we are in Vegas. I think we will take that suggestion, besides, the price is right

Penn & Teller's show is unlike any other magic production in Las Vegas.
These guys define and change the meaning of the word entertainment. Sarcastic and edgy as well as comedic these guys have a totally unique act where you get comedy and magic at the Rio Hotel. Most of us know them from TV where one, the big guy is abrasive and the little guy, Teller says nothing for the entire act yet with his facial expressions can really make you wonder as you see the strange tricks these guys come up with. They know how to perform and certainly know how the amaze the audience with their bizarre act and outragious illusions.
The show is kid friendly

World renowned magician Steve Wyrick seems to do the biggest and most spectacular illusions on the Strip. His show, Real Magic, is performed in the new $34 million complex located in the Miracle Mile Shopping mall in the Planet Hollywood Hotel.
You can't help but be shocked when the show starts with all kinds of special lighting sounds and explosions as he makes his appearance in a Helicopter, the excitement continues from there. His goal, he says is to "show everyone real magic as if they were six years old again where everything is filled wonderment, curiosity and surprise" then proceeds to entertain using his entertaining skills in everything from Broadway-style dance numbers to comedy and storytelling combining these most enjoyable moments with the most incredible illusions. From the old classic, where he might actually saw a woman in pieces, not just in half. He then ends the show when his Lear Jet appears on the stage, a spectacular illustration of what can be found in the entertainment capitol of the world, Las Vegas.Viva Las Vegas!
