Just to be clear, I'm no reporter. I'm an average citizen, taking a look at the news headlines. And, I've just got to say something about what's going on. This isn't gossip. I'm not trying to smear anyone's image here. Feel free to Google everything in this article. You should find almost everything written below is actually legit. I just threw in my two cents and hopefully, kept this article from getting boring.

I guess, now that the bag is out, the Bush administration's secrets on interrogation, President Obama is leaving the door open for possible criminal charges against those officials who drew up the legal basis to interrogate people in ways that could be considered torture. Barack prefers to look forward. But, he doesn't mind leaving his own loyal countrymen behind for the wolves, so to speak. I see how it is.

I guess 8 days ago, a 16-year-old young man was captured during the rescue of an American sea captain held hostage by pirates. The boy is going to trial here in the US. His mother has spoken out very desperately, hoping the US releases her son.

More on that horrible story of the 21 dead horses in Florida. I guess criminal investigations have opened up. Investigators are trying to assertain whether the animals were actually poisoned.

I guess a 22-year-old man was arrested for the killing of one woman and the attack of another after posting that ad on craigslist for massage services.

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is in the hot seat as a bailout oversight committee tries to figure out where $700 billion dollars went to. I smell nuts roasting.

In the business and financial world, I guess GM and Chrysler are getting more money from the treasury. They want to better their businesses. But, they don't mind putting taxpapers in even deeper debt. How nice. Delta and United Airlines rose in US trading since announcing first-quarter losses that beat estimates. Finally, financial institutions across the globe will have to eventually write down assets by $4.1 trillion just to get finances back on track around the world. Notice, it says trillion.

Award-winning films such as The Wrestler and Frost/Nixon are being released today on DVD.

In the world of baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Houston Astros tonight. The New York Yankees are taking on the Oakland Athletics. The Tampa Bay Rays are taking on the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Feld. Florida takes on Pittsburgh.

In basketball, the Detroit Pistons are taking on the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Monday's headlines

More on the story on the Bush-era memos that were exposed by the Obama administration. President Obama himself is visiting the CIA and meeting with the directors. The White House Chief of Staff continues to defend the administration's decision to release the memos. The information is no secret. However, the CIA has a different perspective. They believe that once you expose the tools used for interrogation, that will make it harder for CIA officers to do their jobs to defend the country.

Now for some pretty horrible news, I guess in Palm Beach, a mysterious illness has killed 21 horses before a polo tournament. The Florida Department of Agriculture conducted tests while veterinarians suspect that it had been some kind of poison that caused their deaths. Approximately 14 of the horses were worth $100,000 or more. If you love animals as much as I do, you are probably just as devastated by news like this.

More on the story of the American-Iranian reporter arrested as a spy in Iran on Saturday. I guess Senator Hillary Clinton wants Iranians officials to re-examine and re-evaluate their case against Ms. Roxana Saberi. Will one voice be able to get this woman out of her 8-year prison sentence? We'll have to see as more news rolls in.

In New York, there is broad support for a bill to legalize gay marriage in that state.

Dan Brown, the author behind The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons has finally written a new novel, set to be released in September. The novel is called, "The Lost Symbol." It will be set during a 12-hour period and feature the character as played by Tom Hanks in the movies, Robert Langdon.

In the world of basketball, Cavaliers' coach, Mike Brown was named the coach of the year.

In the world of hockey, the Boston Bruins take on the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre.

Sunday's Headlines

I guess in the Gulf of Aden, pirates were attempting to seize control of the MV Front Ardeness, a Norwegian tanker ship when they were apprehended and questioned by a NATO-supported naval ship. I suppose this was international waters. No one was really arrested. They did eventually set the pirates free. Makes you wonder what else you can get away with outside government territory. Luckily, I don't think anyone got killed in this attack. But the pirates may have been having such a good time on the NATO ship, they just plain forgot to say.

More on the story of American-Iranian journalist, Roxana Saberi. I guess the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or something like that has declaired that she is to receive fair treatment. That should be a relief to hear for any of her family or friends here in the States huh? She's not going to get tortured while imprisoned in Iran. Everything should be all better after she's released in 8 years.

I guess the White House has been receiving criticism for releasing classified memos from interrogations during the Bush administration. They have stated clearly that they believe that they've got the tools to keep the country safe without losing values or undermining our national security. In other words, I guess the Obama administration's secrets are more important than the secrets kept by the Bush administration.

I guess at the Bridgehampton farm, the paparazzi startled a horse Madonna was riding on Saturday. The famous singer was hurled to the ground and taken to the Southampton Hospital. I guess she fell off a horse at her birthday party in 2005 too. I guess that whole back-breaking thing with Superman, Christopher Reeve didn't make an impression on her. You've got to stay on the horse.

The movie, 17 Again, released on Friday was the box-office champ this weekend, drawing in just over $24 million. I know one thing for sure. I didn't pay them a dime.

I guess in the wide, wide world of sports, the New York Yankees will be facing the Cleveland Indians this afternoon. The San Diego Padres face the Philadelphia Phillies in the fourth game. The Phillies have lost the last three games so far, but they are hoping to change all of that today.

The Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Detroit Pistons, big time. The Mavericks beat the Spurs. The Rockets beat the Trail Blazers.

Saturday's Headlines

I guess in Trinidad and Tobago, Obama hopes to establish new, stronger relations with nations in the Western Hemisphere and South Americas at a Summit of the Americas. Among the leaders at this big get-together, both Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez and Chile President, Michelle Bachelet seemed to rub elbows with old Barack Obama. I wonder if everyone's noses were brown when they left the summit.

Speaking of President Obama, in Trinidad and Tobago, Barack announced that he intends to clean up all government programs that have proven to be "wasteful and ineffective". Did he learn something when he threw in some of those ear-marks in his reform plan? He did say, for the 100th time that he wanted to restore the American peoples' trust in the government. We'll have to see what happens or doesn't happen as more news rolls in.

I guess the weather here in Colorado was so severe, it dropped 3 feet of snow on the foothills west of Denver. Travelers were snowbound, requiring the Colorado National Guard to step in and give aid. The people were given blankets, cots and food. Unfortunately, not everyone got a cot. I know I never got one. But, everyone stranded in the foothills got a snack and were all in high spirits, I guess.

I guess in Iran, an Iranian-American journalist by the name of Roxana Saberi was accused of spying for the US. She was convicted and sentenced to 8 years in prison. Of course, the US is trying to deny the allegations and asking for her release. I guess that's a job you don't want. Never spy for the government. If you get caught, all they will do for you is leave a complaint in the complaint box.

I guess a dog treat plant in Wichita called, TreatCo is under investigation by the EPA. No one seems to be able to say why they started this investigation. It's just been called a "witch hunt" and left open for interpretation. Maybe later news will reveal exactly what the EPA and health officials hope to find, and why.

I guess in the business and finance world, GM realized that they may have to declare bankruptcy, Venture capital investments have falllen 50 percent from last year, and the Federal Reserve is trying to figure out how best to use the emergency lending programs. However, the Federal Reserve wants to assure us taxpapers that we're not at risk.

At the Coachella music festival in the California desert, Sir Paul McCartney thought to dedicate a couple of songs to his dearly departed wife, Linda since it was she who "introduced" him to the desert. Linda died of breast cancer in April of 1998.

I guess Beyonce will be touring North America this summer to support her newest hit album, "I am... Sasha Fierce."

Even though I'm not a big fan of the NHL, I can tell you that the New York Rangers are going to take on the Washington Capitals.

In the world of baseball, the Baltimore Orioles will be taking on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway. The New York Mets take on the Milwaukee Brewers later today.

Friday's Headlines

I guess the Obama administration is going to announce that green house gases are bad for you. They are going to do what Bush's administration failed to do. They say that they're actually going to fight our environmental problem. I think I've heard something like this before. Oh, wait, that was in Obamas election campaign. Silly me.

Speaking of Obama, I guess he's blaming the US for Mexico's drug problems, stating that our demand for the drugs are keeping the cartels down there in business.

I guess a small plane crashed in Florida today at 11:15 a.m. or so ET, somewhere in the area of Fort Lauderdale. The Broward County sheriff's department and the FAA are all over the scene. I guess it cut a house in half and started a fire. So far, no one seems to know at this time whether or not the house had living people inside. Why don't we look up who owns the house and find out if those people were on vacation or at work when this happened? Sounds like a no-brainer to me.

For those folks in the Boston area, I guess it's not safe to date people off Craigslist anymore. A killer, supposedly a young, clean-cut blond man is seeking victims through ads for massage services posted on Craigslist. Three women needed a masseuse. Unfortunately, two women were robbed and the third was murdered. Word to the wise, don't ask for a masseuse online. Go to a massage parlor. Think about how vulnerable you are when you take off your clothes, lie on your back and feel so relaxed. It may not be cheap, but you certainly wouldn't have to give up as much as those three victims did.

YouTube declared that they will not be bullied by Hulu. Both companies have a lot to offer. Unfortunately, they think its a boxing match.

As Ellen Degeneres observed on her show, Drew Barrymore and Justin Long have been seen together a lot. They were in a relationship and then, I guess they broke. But, what's the deal now? I guess they're "good friends" and I guess they're working together on a film this summer.

I guess Antwon "Skills" Taylor or Antwon Tanner from One Tree Hill and the movie, Coach Carter has pleaded innocent to the fake ID scam he's been accused of.

Hey, Harry Potter fans, the new trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is on the net. And, it looks awesome. I guess the movie will now be opening on Wednesday, July 15th in the US and the UK. Get those wands, robes and all of the other memorabilia you bought on the net ready, and check out this trailer.

I guess the LA Lakers are taking on the Utah Jazz in the 15th NBA championship to start off the 2009 NBA Playoffs. The Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Detroit Pistons. The Portland Trail Blazers are taking on the Houston Rockets. The Orlando Magic take on the Philadelphia 76ers. The San Antonio Spurs take on the Dallas Mavericks in the playoffs. Atlanta takes on Miami. And finally, I guess my home team, the Denver Nuggets are taking on the New Orleans Hornets for their chance to actually become a respectable team. Anyone remember when the Colorado Rockies got into the World Series? That was pretty amazing huh? Forgive me if I made any mistakes, basketball fans. I'm more of a football fan.

Speaking of the Colorado Rockies. They're taking on the Los Angeles Dodgers in LA later today for a record of 4-5 or 5-4. The Dodgers are hoping to change their record from 7-3 to an 8-3. We here in Denver have our fingers crossed for the Nuggets moreso than the Rockies. The St. Louis Cardinals are taking on the Chicago cubs. The Detroit Tigers are hoping to claw at the Seattle Mariners. Cincinnati takes on Houston. And, the Arizona Diamondbacks are taking on the San Francisco Giants.
