Click Through the Junk to Find Some Good Clothing Buys Online

Joe Grobin
Online shopping has made it easier to find the clothing items we want that the local brick and mortar stores do not have.

In fact, online shopping is oftentimes more efficient than in-store shopping and the quantities of styles and sizes available are much larger than what can be found in traditional stores.

The trick with online shopping is that you have to know what sizes will fit you and also what cuts will fit you so that you can avoid the hassle of having to ship something back to the company for another size.

Most online sites such as www.delias.com or www.urbanoutfitters.com will offer customers size charts where you will need to measure yourself in order to pick the size that works best for you. Do not shop online picking out sizes based on what you normally wear because the odds are that the size shipped out to you, will not fit.

Delias, which only has brick and mortar stores on the East Coast (with a few in the Midwest), is a great online shopping site for any season. The company offers trendy pieces at affordable prices. As with anything the key to picking out pieces is zooming in on items that are of good quality materials and good cuts.

Delias usually is a great place to purchase winter coats and with winter having just passed, you can get some great clearance prices on wool, fully lined coats for under $100.

The sizes, which are juniors sizes, tend to run a little smaller than traditional junior sizes. So, keep that in mind when making purchases. Also, if you know you are picky when it comes to pants and jeans go to a physical store to make these purchases rather than running the risk of having to ship things back and forth for the correct size.

Delias is also great for accessories and shoes. They have a variety of both casual and dress footwear. The company puts out a catalog for each season and includes the latest trends in fashion.

Alloy.com is another online shopping site attempting to cater to the same demographic of teens and twenty-somethings as Delias. However, a lot of the clothing is not as well-made as Delias. Many of the cotton products are very thin and the catalog does not feature as many of the trendier pieces as other online shopping forums.

Alloy.com is good for workout attire, some dresses and some accessories. However, it is really hit or miss with them on whether or not they will have something you want. Overall, their prices are cheap, but then a lot of their product quality is cheap too.

If low prices are of no importance to you, go to www.urbanoutfitters.com where the prices are a lot higher than that of delias.com or alloy.com. The fashions are much more unique. The company has a tendency to sell a lot of retro and antique-inspired clothing pieces. Urban Outfitters online also has a great jewelry selection. Although, if you tend to buy trendy jewelry and your taste changes all the time you can probably buy similar jewelry elsewhere for a lot cheaper.

The shopping site usually has a sale section although the sale prices are not that much of a deal, but every now and then you can find something if you look.

For quirkier pieces, try www.fledflare.com. This is another online fashion site, though there is a tendency to run more toward the novelty side of the fashion gamut. The pricing is fair on a lot of the jewelry and accessories. However, clothing prices seem a little steep.

Online shopping can sometimes be a lot more fun than going to the mall simply because the selection is never ending. Use your best judgment and comparison shop if you want the best deal and the most unique clothing pieces.

As you shop consider saving! I thought I'd share a site I stumbled across the other day that gives me money when I shop or sell through Ebay and also when I shop major retailers online. It's called Big Crumbs. It's free (of course). Don't we all love a good deal? Check it out: http://www.bigcrumbs.com/crumbs/frontpage.jsp?r=twinklings

    Happy shopping and saving!
