ASUS G Series G72GX-RBBX05 NoteBook
This awesome model from Asus really is a deal, at $754.99 from NewEgg.com. I just recently got to try it out for gaming and it is excellent! It is a recertified unit, so avoid it if you have qualms about using such technology, however it has been fine for me. The G72GX-RBBX05 has great customer reviews online and really gives a lot of options to budget-minded gamers, rocking a the powerful Intel Core 2 Duo. After using this laptop, I really have to rave about how much is under the hood for the price. RAM comes rocking in at 6GB DDR2, and the hard drive space is a hefty 500 GB (perfect for gamers with memory-hungry games. The graphics card, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, is really killer for gamers on a budget. Starcraft 2 played excellently, with everything turned up, and I suffered no lag or problems with it. Other big name titles worked great, including Lord of the Rings Online, Alien Swarm, Dungeon and Dragons Online, and the resource-gobbling Armed Assault 2. I will say that one of the annoying cons about this laptop is how quickly dust sticks to the screen and sides. You really need to constantly clean it off, or use some sort of laptop protector to keep it clean.
Asus Republic of Gamers G73Jh Notebook
Another stellar model from Asus, this notebook also packs a bargain-price for a powerful gaming laptop with loads of features. It sells for more than the G72GX, but it offers considerably more included hardware and options. The most affordable price for it online was $1,529.90, at ABE. The hardrive is really astounding, holding an mind-blowing 1TB of space. Coming with Windows 7 and x64 architecture, the G73Jh also offers 8GB of RAM (more than enough for most of today's titles). I was really impressed with the positive reviews this model has received online, from users and PC websites alike
Alienware M17x
Alienware has long been famous for its crazy-powerful gaming CPUs and for its often mind-bloggling prices. They have been part of the niche market for extremely powerful, high-end gaming computers and the M17x is no exception. Packing 8GB of RAM with a 2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad QX9300, plus an astounding two 500GB hardrives (imagine how many games you can fit on this!), the M17x laptop does pull any punches. It is a true gaming computer beast, in terms of pure power, weight (12.7lbs!) and in price ($4,849 for a full feature setup). Reviews have been complimentary of this laptop, but it is a far cry from the more affordable ones featured from Asus. If money is not really an issue, consider this Alienware model. Otherwise, go for a slightly less powerful, but still awesome gaming computer from Asus, such as the G72GX model.
