Top Picks for Hallmark 2008 Keepsake Christmas Ornaments

Ideas for Trimming Your Tree

Susan Sosbe
Every year, Hallmark comes out with a great selection of Christmas ornaments. This year is no exception. Here are my top picks from their 2008 collection of Keepsake ornaments in various categories.

Peace, Goodwill To All ($32.00) - If you would like a religious-themed ornament, consider the Peace, Goodwill To All tree topper for your tree this year. It is subtle, but still attractive enough to hold the place of honor on top of your tree.

The Unforgettable Leg Lamp ($18.50)- What Christmas would be complete without something from the classic movie, "A Christmas Story". Hallmark brings the movie into your home with The Unforgettable Leg Lamp ornament for your tree. It includes three sayings from the movie and the lamp gives off a soft glow. If your Christmas traditions include settling in to watch this movie every year, then this is a must-have for your collection.

Barbie Shoe Tree Ornament ($15.00) - This ornament would be ideal for the Barbie lover or the shoe lover. The Barbie Shoe Tree ornament is a collection of ten Barbie shoes with the saying "Life's too short for sensible shoes" at the bottom.

Where the Wild Things Are ($15.00) - What child didn't love this classic book? Hallmark brings the magic of Sam's imagination to your tree with the Where the Wild Things Are ornament.

Star Trek ($18.50) - For the Trekkie in your life, consider the Star Trek Communicator Christmas ornament. It is battery operated with lights and actual communicator sayings from the original show.

Super Heroes ($16.50) - My top pick from the superhero category would have to be The Dark Knight Christmas Keepsake ornament, only because it actually does something. You can pull Batman down and he'll climb back up again. What can I say? I'm easily amused.

The Magic Eight Ball ($15.00) - This was a tough category to pick a favorite. I love all things nostalgic. I love anything that brings back the happy memories of my childhood, but I finally decided on a favorite. My pick for nostalagia was a toss up between the Magic Eight Ball and PacMan because I have fond memories of both from my own childhood. I finally decided on the Magic Eight Ball.

Baby's First Christmas ($12.50) - For Baby's First Christmas I went with the one with the photo frame. They were all cute, but I know from experience that I love my Christmas ornaments that contain pictures of my own children. Every year as I trim the tree, I always take a little extra time to reminisce the days of Christmas Past when I pull these special ornaments out of storage.

Number One Favorite Pick for 2008 - Okay, my absolute favorite pick for Hallmark's Keepsake Ornaments for 2008 actually has nothing to do with Christmas, but I love it anyway. It is the Statler and Waldorf ornament from the Muppet Show. I love these guys. This ornament is battery operated and comes complete with quotes that highlight the sarcastic wit that made them famous.

So there you have it...my top picks for the 2008 Christmas collection of Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. But don't take my word for it. Go ahead and pick your own.
