If you are throwing a party for a pre-schooler, try Brush Fire, where each child picks out his very own piece of pottery, paints it just the way he or she wants, and then leaves it to be fired professionally. No one is ever bored, and, even after the party ends, the kids get to look forward to going back to pick up their finished item. Brush Fire is located at 957 Pearl Street and offers special rates for groups. (You might also want to check out another popular birthday favorite, Papa's Pizza. Papa's will reserve a table for you if you call in advance. Kids and parents alike enjoy Papa's because there is a playground for the children to use, free of charge, after they have finished their pizza, birthday cake, and the opening of gifts.
Elementary schoolers usually prefer something more physical and Grand Slam USA and Skate World both fill that bill. Grand Slam USA is a baseball/basketball facility where kids can practice batting, play trampoline basketball, or enjoy a rousing game of slam dunk basketball. A separate party room can be reserved for the usual cake and presents, and even pizza delivery to the site at a "per kid" price. Grand Slam USA is located at 921 International Way in Springfield. Skate World, also in Springfield at 3188 Gateway Loop, is a great indoor skating rink with lots of food and games to play. Most area kids don't wait for a birthday to spend time at Skate World, but it is a great birthday site, providing private party rooms and lively music to skate by.
Good places to have parties for middle school children is at Putters or Strike City, both located in the Gilbert Shopping Center at 1156 Highway 99N. Putter's is all fun and games; you can play mini golf, have pizza, pool, or all the video games you want. Strike City is simply bowling, but on Saturday nights, they have Cosmic Bowling, when they turn off the lights and turn the black lights on!
A lot of high schoolers don't have formal parties put together by their parents. Instead, they throw parties, inviting half the school and just partying away. Sometimes they end up at this really cool place called, Paint Ball Palace! Paint-balling is fun, and the kids usually split into teams to battle each other. The winners have something to brag about for days after the party.
Most adults enjoy going out to dinner to celebrate birthdays. Eugene has some excellent restaurants to choose from including Oregon Electric Station, The Mongolian Grill, Hometown Buffet, Marie Callender's, and the Olive Garden. The Oregon Electric Station located downtown at 27 E. 5th, is an elegant restaurant that many adults find especially enjoyable. Adults who prefer to gather at bars for their birthdays will find an ample selection of those, also, including Joggers, Docs Pad, and Ambrosia.
Whether you are the one celebrating the birthday, or are in charge of planning it for someone else, there is something special to be found in Eugene; something that will please the person being honored as well as something to fit the pocketbook of all involved.

Post a Commentwheres the best place to go for a birthday party for teens?
Good birthday suggestion, but uh, *ignore* those restaurant recommendations. Just about all those places are the sort of place you bring Aunt Clem visiting from rural Iowa so she doesn't suffer culture shock. Can you say "bland?" Among those, only Ambrosia is good.
There are good family-friendly restaurants in Eugene which aren't just bland sysco fare. Mazzi's, Bepe & Gianni's, Laughing Planet, Ta Ra Rin (thai), China Blue, McGrath's, Misako, and more.
