Top Prospects for the 2010 NBA Draft

My All-NBA Draft Team

Mike Spain
My top 2010 NBA draft prospects are broken down by position. The list is almost like an All-NBA Draft team. The 2010 draft looks to be one filled with youth. Freshman like Kentucky's John Walls, Eric Bledsoe and DeMarcus Cousins highlight the talent freshman in this year's draft.

Point Guards:My Pick John Wall

John Wall

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks Kentucky Wildcats freshman point guard John Wall the top prospect in the 2010 NBA draft. Wall played in 37 games for the Wildcats averaging close to 35 minutes a contest. He is young, but there are a lot of young players in the draft and young players can make it in the NBA. The question with his youth is does he have the maturity and the make up to transition into the pro game? He successfully delivered quality minutes on an elite NCAA team. John averaged 16.6 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game and 6.5 assists per game. Wall's has good size at 6'4" and 185lbs.

Eric Bledsoe

Kentucky Wildcats must have the corner on Point Guard prospects. ESPN's Chad Ford ranks Kentucky Wildcats freshman point guard Eric Bledsoe as the 16th best prospect and he second rated point guard on his list. Bledsoe is a year older than John Wall. Bledsoe is shorter at 6'1" and stockier at 190lbs. Eric averaged 11.3 points per game and 3.1 rebounds per game and 2.9 assists per game.

Shooting Guards: My Pick Evan Turner

Evan Turner

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks Ohio State junior Evan Turner as the top shooting guard in the NBA draft and the second best prospect behind John Wall. The 21 year Turner has shown he can produce in the college ranks with back to back double digit scoring averages. Turner is 6'7" 205lbs and averaged 20.4 points per game last season with 9.2 rebounds per game, and 6 assists per game. Turner offers good size, a scorer, a rebounder, and a person who will dish the ball around.

Xavier Henry

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks Kansas freshman Xavier Henry as the second best shooting guard in the draft and the 15th best prospect for the NBA draft. Henry has the same height as Turner but is 15lbs heavier. Xavier unlike Turner only has one year of college experience and only his scoring makes an effort to compare. Xavier averaged 13.4 points per game. Henry played for an elite team with Kansas. Henry has the size but is he ready for the NBA? Henry has very high upside and averaged more points per game than Turner did as a freshman.

Power Forwards:My Pick Ed Davis

Derrick Favors

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks Derrick Favors as the third best prospect in the draft and the best power forward the 2010 draft class has to offer. Favors is another freshman who is only 18. The Yellow Jacket star averaged 12.4 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game. Favors has size at 6'9" 215lbs. Is one year in the ACC enough seasoning for the NBA?

Ed Davis

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks North Carolina Tar Heel sophomore Ed Davis as the second best power forward in the draft and the seventh ranked prospect overall. Davis is 6'10 and weighs 215lbs. Ed averaged 12.9 points per game and 9.2 rebounds per game. Davis has an additional year of seasoning than Favors. Davis also was part of a National Championship Team his freshman year.

Small Forwards: My Pick Al-Farouq Aminu

Wesley Johnson

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks Syracuse junior Wesley Johnson as the fifth best player in the draft and the small forward in the draft. Johnson averaged double figures in scoring the past two seasons. Last year Wesley average 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Johnson is 6'7 198lbs and 22 years old.

Al-Farouq Aminu

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks Wake Forest small forward Al-Farouq Aminu as the second best small forward and sixth best prospect in the draft. Aminu is bigger than Johnson at 6'8 205lbs. Aminu has averaged double scoring digit scoring average the past two seasons. Al-Farouq averaged 15.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. I could see the 19 year old being selected before Wesley due to his size and better rebounding numbers.

Centers: My Pick DeMarcus Cousins

DeMarcus Cousins

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks Cousins as the top center and fourth best prospect in the draft. Cousins is another Kentucky Wildcat freshman in the draft. Cousins is 6'11 and 260lb 19 year old. Cousins averaged 15.8 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.

Cole Aldrich

ESPN's Chad Ford ranks Cole Aldrich as the number two center in the draft and eighth best center in the draft. Cole has the same height as DeMarcus but is 15lbs lighter than Cousins. The Kansas junior averaged 11.3 points per game and 9.8 points per game. Statistically, Cole had a better season the year before for the Kansas Jayhawks.
