Pigeon Forge, the home of country western singer, Dolly Parton's Dollywood Theme Park, has roots back to the 1700's. The mountain area town was primarily a farming community until the opening the Great Smoky Mountain National Park in 1940. The beautiful mountain range park is adjacent to Pigeon Forge.

Dollywood, the theme park by country western entertainer, Dolly Parton features 140 acres of home-spun fun. The theme park features more than 30 rides, arts and craft shops. The Southern Music Gospel Association's Music Hall of Fame and Museum and the Dolly Parton Museum are located at Dollywood.

The Smoky Mountain area, with it's signature blue-gray haze, is a beautiful, scenic place to visit, with the natural beauty of the mountains, mountain streams, waterfalls and the varied trees and vegetation in the area. There are over 100 types of trees that are native to the area.

Visitors to the Smoky Mountains can happily indulge in good old fashioned southern cooking at one of the following eateries.

Corky's Ribs were made famous in Memphis. The BBQ is cooked in the wold fashioned southern tradition. The top choice meat is cooked in open and closed BBQ pits with hickory chips and charcoal at low temperatures for several hours.

The Old Mill Restaurant

The Old Mill, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was a water powered gristmill in the early 1800's. One of it's distinctive features is the giant water wheel that harnesses the flow of the Little Pigeon river. The mill grinds the grains used as flours. The Old Mill Restaurant is adjacent to he historic mill. The Old Mill Restaurant served true old fashioned, southern cuisine for breakfast, lunch ad dinner. Dinner Specialties include Souther Style Meat Loaf, Southern Style Turkey and Dressing, Old Mill Chicken and Dressing, Chicken Pot Pie, Southern Style Pot roast and Gravy, Bar-BQ Pork Ribs, Sugar Ground Ham and Southern Style Spareribs and Sauerkraut.
