With all of hype from the new movie Paranormal Activity, lots of ghost stories are coming out, and more and more people are talking about their personal activities. A popular place to view sightings is on www.youtube.com. People post their encounters with the paranormal for the purpose of entertaining others. However, many people will post videos of "paranormal" just to get attention, and it could be completely fake.

I do believe there are some real pieces of paranormal footage that can be found on www.youtube.com. I've searched thoroughly to find the top viewed paranormal videos, and while they are difficult to call fake or real, I definitely have my opinions on them.

1. The first video I found (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzZI16Z13dw) was footage of a pantry door that apparently opens on its own every night while the household members are sleeping. One night, one of the residents decided to try to get this paranormal activity caught on video. They did catch the pantry door open, and the videographer went to the pantry after it had opened to look inside, found nothing, and then closed the door again. When the door closed, a sudden figure of a young girl appeared in the glass of the door.

In my opinion, there was no way for the person videotaping to make a seamless video, meaning there was no hint of the camera stopping and restarting. Therefore, they couldn't have placed a girl inside the closet door, and they also featured a close up of the door handle which clearly had no strings attached. If I had to guess, I'd say this was actual paranormal footage.

2. This clip shows a ghost in a England located cemetery. The footage clearly does show there is some type of paranormal figure standing by a grave. You can view the footage here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-virpJM2XE .

If I had to make a guess, it does look pretty realistic. However, there are other possibilities. We don't know what the temperature was, or if it was foggy out. England is known to have very foggy days, which could create an appearance of an abnormal figure. It looks real, but not real enough for me to believe.

3. This video is pretty creepy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBlqFncDhlQ . The owner of the camera had set up a motion detector on his computer's web cam. The video camera only turns on if there is motion detected. You can clearly see a human foggy figure walk right by the door way. The door is then closed quickly and hard.I have no idea how they could make an apparition appear in such a ghostly figure with just a basic camera, so I'd go out on a limb and say this person actually caught some paranormal activity. However, I'm always skeptical when it comes to a door closing, because it is very simple to put a piece of fish wire around the door knob and have someone around the corner pull it shut. This paranormal activity does look very realistic to me.

4. This clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0JRWO4Ot6g&feature=related, seemed a little to unrealistic to me. The cameraperson was shooting their video from inside their hotel room. They were able to see a figure while actually filming.

If someone with a video camera knew of some great camera effects, they could have integrated a shadowy presence walking through this hotel. The ghost figure is very clear and a little to human like for me to believe. Ghosts are hard to come by, if you believe in them, and if you are able to get it on video in every room of the hotel, to me it seems a little farfetched.

5. This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0JRWO4Ot6g&feature=related does appear to have some validity to it. It is an image of a woman in a cemetery walking towards the camera. If the image of the apparition didn't get larger during the 5 seconds that it was caught on camera, I would probably chalk it up to being a glare from the sun hitting between the trees. However, the image grows and so does what looks like the beams of light. I'd have to say it looks pretty believable to me.
