Top Reasons It's Great to Be an MMA Enthusiast Part 2 of 2

Many of us have been in a scenario similar to the one which follows: You're out to lunch or dinner with a few friends, or at a party, etc. when the topic of just exactly why you are an MMA fan enters the conversation. Instantly, your mind is flooded with the countless reasons that you follow the sport, but by the time that you narrow it down to one, it's too late. The conversation has either moved on or those around you think that you haven't got a solid argument in favor of MMA.

With that in mind, here's something that may be of service. Below is a guide that may help if you ever find yourself in such a situation. It's a list of some of the reasons why it's great to be an MMA enthusiast. This is the second part of a two part series.

The best is yet to come: As was mentioned above, fights can be seen all over your television or computer, but it goes why beyond that when it comes to MMA. There are schools popping up at a good rate and there are many local promoters across the country who are putting on quality shows. More and more athletes are getting involved in the sport, which means great things for the future.

Wanna meet a girl? Go to an MMA card: When you watch on TV, you'll notice the camera scan to the gorgeous women in the crowd (and we're not just talking about the ring card girls). The camera doesn't have to scan too far to find these beautiful women and if you've ever been to a live event, chances are you can attest to that fact.

Women fighters take a back seat to no one: Maybe your girlfriend, wife, sister or mother is under the impression that MMA is for men only. As fans, we know that headline fighters like Gina Carano and Cris Cyborg are serious MMA athletes.

Trash talk needs to be backed up: It's not like a football player who talks smack against the opposing team and then hides behind his teammates and his helmet when it's time for the game. An MMA fighter can put down his or her opponent all that they want, but sooner or later, it'll be fight time and those words will need to either be backed up or eaten.

There are now card being held nearly everywhere: If you are itching to see a card live and in person, chances are that you won't have to look too far. It may not be on the level of a UFC or Strikeforce event, and you may not recognize the names of many of the fighters participating, but trust that local cards are shows worth attending.

You can learn about the sport through hands on experience: If you feel that you are physically and mentally tough enough, there may be an opportunity relatively close to where you live where you can receive lessons on jiu-jitsu, wrestling, boxing and so forth. No, it doesn't mean that have to look toward MMA as a career option, but there are ways to learn the sport up close and personal.

It's gaining respect in the mainstream sports media: We all know that MMA doesn't need the stamp of approval from certain media outlets in order to claim it's legitimacy as a viable sport with a great and loyal following. Still, it helps when places such as ESPN preview and review some of the mega-fights.

What about the gear? There's little doubt about it, whether it tie-shirts, sweaters, hats etc. wearing clothing involved in MMA not only supports the cause, but is very much the style as well.
