Top Resources for Finding Events in Boston
Neighborhood: Boston and surrounding area

Boston is a city filled with culture, restaurants, and great places to shop. Independent films, indie bands, and big name concerts pass through on a regular basis. It can be dizzying trying to keep it all straight.

There are some great resources that can help keep you up on all the latest happenings in Boston. Boston nightlife, Boston theater, Boston concerts, and Boston events, restaurants and where to shop can all be found in these Boston guides.

Improper Bostonian. This free magazine can be found distributed throughout the city. The main draw is the comprehensive events listing. However, you can also find photo spreads with the latest fashions and a good article or two. It is free so there is a lot of advertising. But, the magazine does a good job keeping the ads from getting aggravating.

Boston Phoenix - Stuff at Night. Look for this free newspaper-style current events paper throughout the city. Check in bars and in those newspaper boxes with the door throughout the streets. I've seen them on Massachusetts Ave. and in various bars. I pick this up mainly for the articles. I find the classified style events listings to be a little hard to read.

Boston.com- This is by far my favorite current events resource. Boston.com is the online version of The Boston Globe. The current events section features a searchable database of nearly every event in the city and surrounding area. The main current events page also includes highlights of some of the hot happenings for Boston nightlife, Boston theater, and the Boston music scene.

Dig. Dig is another of those free distribution independent newspapers found in bars. They are paid for by their advertisers. But, I occasionally find a Boston event listed in Dig that I've never seen before. I also enjoy reading some of the articles. It's a fun read, but by no means comprehensive.

Daily Candy. www.dailycandy.com has a special edition newsletter on Boston. These are review style listings of interesting restaurants, stores, and events throughout Boston. The reviews are fun to read. Sign up for the newsletter and make sure to also search the archives.

Of course, searching for Boston events, Boston nightlife, Boston theater listings, and other Boston happenings should not take the place of going out and exploring. Sometimes you can find a great Boston band, Boston bar, or Boston restaurant quite by accident. My best finds usually happen at the most unplanned for moments.
