Top Restaurants for a Romantic Evening in Huntington, IN
The Top 3 Places for Your Night Out on the Town!
Richard's Restaurant - 2865 Guilford Street - For many years, Richard's was one of the only sit-down restaurants available which had a date-worthy atmosphere, and Richard's has been one of the most popular restaurants that Huntington offered since I can remember. While the home-cooked menu isn't gourmet as more expensive alternatives, the down-home charm of Richard's has made it a staple among residents. Richard's is also an ideal location for a breakfast date, and the secluded booths make for a private atmosphere. This restaurant was first featured in my article The Best Places for a First Date in Huntington, IN.
Pizza Junction - 201 Court Street - While pizza might not be the ideal fare for a romantic evening, residents of Huntington often turn to this hometown classic for their laid-back dining. Located on the railroad tracks which separate north and south Huntington, Pizza Junction is a restored train station which offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu includes many pizza selections, fresh salads, and appetizers. Take-out is also available, for those who prefer a more private atmosphere elsewhere, and previously Pizza Junction offered local delivery.
Los Amigos Mexican Restaurants - 1235 S Jefferson Street - This newer addition to the Huntington restaurant scene has become a local favorite. One of the few places in town to enjoy Mexican/Latino cuisine, Los Amigos Mexican Restaurants is located in the old downtown area in a historical building. The authentic food is served fast and fresh, and numerous patrons rave about the homemade chips and salsa. While the atmosphere may be slightly more festival and overwhelming than many romantic locations, a good time is sure to be had at this Huntington staple.
Honorable Mention: With locally owned restaurants closing frequently in Huntington, favorites such as George's Doghouse and the Hoosier Drive-In have left a dining void in their absence. Nick's café is a wonderful choice, but only for romantic breakfast or lunch dates-they lack evening hours. Several other restaurants are worth trying, though few lack an atmosphere typically required for a romantic evening.
