Four Romantic Getaways

B Mathison
Candlelight. Soft music. Time away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Couples have many options for a romantic meal in Brookfield, ranging from high-class restaurants to casual eateries. Here are just a few for an ideal romantic evening.

Special Occasions

The Melting Pot, 19650 West Bluemound Road

Nothing says "celebrate!" like the Melting Pot. A fondue restaurant, plan to spend at least two hours here meandering through numerous courses. Request a booth for a cozy, romantic dining experience. With their Big Night Out, you pick your cheese fondue (appetizer), your choice of salad, your main entrée, and dessert fondue. Tuesday's Date Night offers a cheese-entrée-dessert selection with a bottle of wine for $75. You will have plenty of time to connect with your partner as you experience this dining experience, which creates a special event all on its own.

Although pricey (plan to spend at least $100 on dinner), The Melting Pot is an excellent place to connect or re-connect with your significant other.

A Great Wisconsin Steakhouse

Jake's Restaurant, 21445 West Gumina Drive

If you and your date are steak lovers, Jake's is the place to go to. Although located near busy Capitol Drive, the restaurant is set back from the main road, and offers a secluded feel. Start with the haystack onion rings, followed up with a steak to-order or seafood. Monday specials include an 8oz tenderloin entree for under $11. You can get a three-course dinner for $25 Tuesday - Thursday.

Jake's gives you a quiet, traditional space to share time with your dining partner. Ask for a table near the fireplace for added romantic value.

Romantic Italian

Pepinos Pizza & Ristorante, 17065 West Capitol Drive

One of five Pepino's in the area, the Brookfield location offers a quiet atmosphere with excellent Italian fare. Ask for a booth near the fireplace, especially if dining in the winter. Pizza is traditional and first-rate. Garlic bread, mozzarella sticks, lasagna, and spaghetti are also excellent.

For the budget-conscious, this is a great choice for couples looking for a romantic setting without breaking the bank. Casual, with a touch of Italian/fine dining.

Historic

The Red Mill Restaurant, 1005 South Elm Grove Road

If you and your date like to eat, and eat exceptional food, The Red Mill is a must stop. Off main Brookfield roads, this restaurant has recently undergone management changes and offers an excellent menu in a casual atmosphere. There are a number of tables in quiet corners that are ideal for a romantic get-away. The soup du jour is made home-made daily, and is a perfect appetizer. Entrees include such gems as the Ultimate Stuffed Chicken and Rajun Cajun Shrimp and Chicken Fettuccine.

In true Wisconsin fashion, for couples who link the Green Bay Packers with romance, The Red Mill offers of fun place to watch the game.
