Top Seven Disney World Rides

One Person's Perspective on the Best

Tigres119
I have been to Disney World, shall we say, several times. Needless to say I have been on the rides also, shall we say, several times. For someone who has never been to Disney World, this can be quite a daunting task knowing where to go. With so many rides, if you have to pick and choose, which ones do you do? However, never fear. Here is a short list of the best rides that you can't miss, at least in my opinion.

1. Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Type of Ride: Rollercoaster
Which Park: Hollywood Studios
Who is this for: Thrill seekers
Who is this not for: People who don't like speed or the dark

This is one of my favorite rides ever. You are put in an extended limosine ( aka the rollercoaster ) and speed off. No slow crank up a hill here. With neon signs glowing in almost complete darkness, Aerosmith songs blasting in your ears, you can't help but scream like you would at a rock concert. The ride is short but totally worth a wait. Get a Fast Pass if you can since this ride tends to have long waits ( because of its major awesomeness).

2. Splash Mountain
Type of Ride: Water luge
Which Park: Magic Kingdom
Who is this for: People who are hot and love changes of pace
Who is this not for: People who don't like heights

Through the mountain you will go seeing the story of Brer Rabbit getting chased by Brer Fox and Brer Bear. You ride in a huge log and have little dips along the way, until you get to the big drop. You get very wet, but you are greeted with a paddle boat full of characters singing "Zip-a-dee-do-dah". This ride is great near mid day when you are tired and hot from all that walking around. Fast Pass it if you can.

3. Peter Pan's Flight
Type of Ride: Flying Boat
Which Park: Magic Kingdom
Who is this for: Everyone. Literally
Who is this not for: People who don't like small children

This very tame ride is great for everyone. You sit in a pirate ship and are whisked away to Neverland where you see all your favorite characters. This is a relatively slow ride that is perfect for families. You feel like you are flying without feeling like you are going to fall. This ride has a long line almost all day at all times, so get a Fast Pass for this one. Do not wait until the end of the day for this ride because all the little ones in line with you will be tired, cranky, and very vocal about it.

4. Spaceship Earth
Type of Ride: Car on a Track
Which Park: Epcot
Who is this for: People who love history
Who is this not for: People who don't like long rides

This ride is located in the iconic orb located at Epcot ( That giant golf ball thing right in the middle. It's kind of hard to miss it). This ride takes you through major events in ancient history and well as thoughts of what might happen tomorrow. This is a long and peaceful ride where you just sit in the moving car and look around. Great for when your legs need a break. Not so great if you are hungry or need a potty break.

5. Haunted Mansion
Type of Ride: Moving Car
Which Park: Magic Kingdom
Who is this for: Creeps and Geeks alike
Who is this not for: Anyone who gets even a little scared

I can easily go on this ride over and over again and never get bored of it. You sit in your car and ride at a nice slow pace through the haunted mansion. The mansion has some great special effects that can take several times through to not only catch them all, but try and figure out how they do it. The overall theme is silly-scary, however if you have little ones who get the littlest bit scared, this ride might not be a good idea. Adults however, if this ride doesn't make you smile at least once, then I have nothing to say to you.

6. Kali River Rapids
Type of Ride: Water Raft
Which Park: Animal Kingdom
Who this is for: Thrill seekers who love to not get wet, but to get absolutely drenched
Who is this not for: People who don't love getting absolutely drenched

This is another one of those rides that is really great for a really hot day. You sit in a circular raft and ride down the very turbulent (obviously) river rapids. If you don't want to get wet, then stand on the sidelines. It is practically impossible to not get soaked on this ride. In other words, if you are wearing jeans when you get on this ride, best of luck to you. Definetely Fast Pass this ride. Although, the waiting area is highly decorated and very pretty if you don't mind waiting.

7. Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin
Type of Ride: Arcade Car
Which Park: Magic Kingdom
Who this is for: Anyone who has spent any time playing video games
Who this is not for: People who get dizzy easily

Ever played "Duck Hunter", or that game in the arcade section where you shot a water gun at a bulls eye to make your (fill in the blank here) move forward? Imagine an entire neon colored, giant, moving, laser-crazy ride of just that. You ride in your car and have a laser gun where you shoot at as many targets as you can to get points. Some targets will even make things move or pop up. You can spin your car around to face any direction to get the best shot. However if you get even a little car sick, this is probably not a good idea for you. This ride certainly brings out the kid in anyone and everyone.

Well although this may be a short list, I hope this gives you somewhat of an idea of at least a few rides that you simply cannot miss, no matter what your favorite ride type. Have fun!
