Top Seven Things to Do when You're Bored

How to Beat Those Boredom Blues

Birdie Grace
It's another boring night and you have nothing to do. All your friends are on vacation and your boss has given you the week off. This may not be a realistic situation for when you're bored but at some point you will become bored for some reason or another. Here are some suggestions on what to do to battle that boredom.

1) Read a book.
Or a magazine. Or a newspaper. Reading is an amazing thing in that it can transport you to other worlds. There are dozens of genres to choose from and once you discover the joy of reading... your local library could just become your favorite place.

2) Work-out.
This is a great stress and tension reliever. Working out also doesn't have to mean getting on a treadmill for an hour. You can play some sand volleyball or even just take the dog for a walk.

3) Cook.
Or bake. The process of picking a recipe, buying ingredients, preparing ingredients, and finally cooking them will definitely give you plenty to do. It's also very rewarding once you've finished and you have an incredibly yummy meal that you made and get to eat it! To make it even more rewarding, share the meal with someone... even if it's just the old guy in the apartment next door.

4) Volunteer.
You'd be amazed at how much time this can take up. Volunteer at your local soup kitchen or homeless shelter or staff a crisis hotline. If you're not so good with people look into volunteering with your local Humane Society or environental conservation group.

5) Meet up.
Check out meetup.com and join a group that interests you. Most groups have meetings once a month or more so join several groups and you're bound to never be bored again!

6) Clean
This may not be the most entertaining thing ever but it will help to get rid of boredom and when you're done you'll have a clean house! Do some laundry, sweep, mop, wash the windows.

7) Write.
Work on that book or screenplay or whatever. Write for Associated Content! You'll get paid for it too! Writing a quality article actually takes some time as well so you'll be occupied for long enough until something else comes along.

Great ideas. Now I guess I need to get to a point in my life where I would actually be bored. What a concept.
