Top Sites for Finding (Artist's) Music Lyrics

4 Excellent Sites to find words to your favorite songs

The secret to finding a good music lyrics site is to find one that does not have a dozen pop-ups, instantly on the home page. It took me a long time on the Internet to find a half-decent lyrics site.

While I was searching for a certain song, by a certain artist, it would be a huge hassle to find proper lyrics. Let's say for example, the artist Chantal Kreviazuk and the song "Feels Like Home"; I would have to end up going to her official site to look up the lyrics. Now you cannot do this for every artist. Every artist does not have a great database, nor do they have any lyrics. If some artists have a section for lyrics, most of the time, it's under construction.

Now, while I was looking for lyrics by all sorts of artist, from different genres, I stumbled across a very interesting site at the time. The website is http://www.songmeanings.net. This song has such a strong and in depth database of so many artists. In my opinion, it's the best music lyrics site out there on the Internet now. They have their featured artists, and they have the obscure artists as well. It's not limited to any artists. You the reader have all the power to post any lyrics by any band. If it's not right, then someone may post the right ones. And it will get fixed. The artists in the featured artists list, includes 50 Cent, Alkaline Trio, Vanessa Carlton, Our Lady Peace, Oasis, Led Zeppelin, Zebrahead, and Metallica, to only name a few.

As of right now, there are 25, 582 artists, 287, 575 lyrics, 10, 755 albums, and 219, 473 members. There's no shortage of people at this site. What's even better about this site is that you can join up for free, and end up posting comments or lyrics, or even correcting lyrics. And, also, it's not called song meanings for no reason. What you can do is post about what the song is about, and any song at that. There will be conversation via comments on the page by many members, and you can dissect certain songs among each other.

By far, that is the best music lyric site. There are a few other ones that are pretty good as well. Such as, http://www.azlyrics.com. It has a good database, but not nearly as much as songmeanings.net. It's a very good site, if you'd like to know what song was on what album. For example: the songs Heart Shaped-Box, Breed, and About A Girl, by the artist Nirvana. You can go onto this site, search for the band Nirvana, and then it'll show up all their albums, and all the songs on that album, in chronological order. About A Girl would be under their first album, Bleach. Breed would be under their second album, Nevermind. Heart Shaped-Box would be under their third album, In Utero.

If you're just looking for punk rock lyrics, there's a site called, http://www.plyrics.com. It's a great site for punk rock lyrics. It has a lot of the bands that most may not know, or the few that may not be on the previous two sites mentioned. My Chemical Romance, Atreyu, Motion City Soundtrack, Fall Out Boy is a few of the popular bands out there, which would be on songmeanings.net, and azlyrics.com. Then you have the lesser-known bands such as, Race The Sun, Screeching Weasel, The Vibrators and Kids In The Way. They update every time members submit a new lyric, or when they find out lyrics by themselves. It is along the same lines as azlyrics.com, but for punk rock.

For you more gothic, dark people, there's, http://www.darklyrics.com. It's very useful for bands like Everytime I Die, Atreyu, Norma Jean, The Black Dahlia Murder, Alexisonfire, and Remembering Never. It's just like plyrics.com, where it updates daily. For all the dark 80s/90s metal, it's there as well. Nine Inch Nails, Iron Maiden and so on.

To me these are the best sites for lyrics. Nothing really comes close to this, if there are any sites that beats the ones I've mentioned, then I haven't found it yet. To me it does not get more complete than songmeanings.net.
