Planning a vacation with young children to the beautiful Summit County community of Dillon, Colorado? Whether headed this winter or summer, there's plenty to do! Here are some kid-tested, mother-approved favorites for dining, playing, sledding and more.

Family-friendly Restaurants

What's better than snuggling in warm wool blankets while you're transported up 2 gondolas to your dinner location? While the prices are steep, kids will love this adventurous dining experience, complete with leiderhosen-wearing singers and frequent "Chicken Dance" performances. 6) Dillon Dam Brewery, 100 Little Dam Street, Dillon (970) 262-7777. Strong kids menu includes carrot and & celery sticks and a free drink.

7) Dillon Marina Tiki Bar - Walk down the hill from the Dillon playground- and head towards the surfer music. While the menu is mostly fried food, kids love it and parents will love the views from this popular deckside dining spot.

Top Playgrounds

1) Dillon playground - Constructed Summer 2008, this awesome playground next ot the Dillon Amphiteater boasts some of the best views of Summit county. Sit down, haev a picnic and marvel at the views over Lake Dillon into Keystone, Breck, Elephany Mountain, the Gore Range, and more.

2) Frisco Elementary Funground, 800 E 8th Avenue, Frisco - Take the Dam Road to Frisco and discover this imagical playscape. The school is located in SE Frisco. Turn left from Dam Road onto CO-9/Summit Blvd. Go 1.1 miles (towards breckenridge) to right on Teller Street. Take a slight left at 8th Avenue -- the school will be on your left

Best Sledding Spots

Silverthorne Recreation Center, 430 Rainbow Drive, Silverthorne. Take Blue River Pkwy/CO -9 downhill towards I-70. Go under the highway, and take a right at the Outlets onto Rainbow Drive. The rec center is .3 miles on your right -- great sledding can be found outside!

Summit Cove/Lake Dillon - Take US 6 towards Keystone. At lake's end, right before Swan Mountain Road, you'll see a small parking lot and a sledding hill on your right.
