In many cases, some quiet time creating ambient music, looking at a photo of a loved-one, or smashing the face of a non-loved-one helps make the stress go away. Here are three apps for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch that work well as stress relievers.
Brian Eno's Bloom for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch
The excellent ambient music generator, Bloom, is a perfect way to spend a few minutes watching ambient music generate itself, or by taking a more active role in the music's creation.
This app, created by ambient music legend Brian Eno, with generative music star, Peter Chilvers, uses pleasing bell tones combined with graphical touches to produce a contemplative mood combining sound and art.
The iPhone's multi-touch interface is leveraged beautifully in the app, with each finger tap generating a new tone and multiple touches building chords and intervals. Bloom belongs in the app library of any ambient music fan.
Make Me Smile for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch
Make Me Smile, developed by Webventure Avenue, simply melts stress away through a familiar picture or song. This app allows the user to store (or take) a favorite picture along with a favorite song from iTunes for easy recall on the user's iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch.
The app also features social network integration by a simple Facebook posting feature. Make Me Smile is a universal app, and its iPad version allows for a full-screen display and landscape orientation.
Stress Fighter for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch
Stress Fighter, developed by Abhijeet Wable, takes a more violent approach to stress management. The app allows the user to choose a body type, background, and face (from either a stored or freshly-taken photo) before becoming essentially a fighting game.
The user has a full array of weaponry, including pencils, fists, and even a pie, to use when fighting against the subject within the chosen photo. The gameplay is decent enough, with fast controls and sound effects. The object of Stress Fighter is simply to defeat the boss. Maybe saving one's fighting results can be a future enhancement?
So no matter the method of stress relief, here are three quality iPhone apps that take their own approach towards making a hectic day go by a little faster.
