Top Ted Dekker Books

Every avid reader has their favorite author and favorites among that author's works. Many Ted Dekker fans, myself included, are no different. Depending on who you talk to different people will have a list of different favorites from the Christian thriller author. Ted Dekker has many novels to choose from, many of which have also been made into movies (i.e. HOUSE). Here are a few of this content producer's favorite novels from this author.

Adam: Daniel knows the killer he is investigating, every aspect of the case has become his own life. The serial killer hunts for his perfect Eve, sixteen young women have been killed, and the seventeenth is an unexpected person. Daniel knows the killers face but cannot bring his memory to the point of seeing it once more. He is desperate to relive his death over to bring himself closer to the killer, but will it become a battle for his own life, his own soul?

House: House is one of Dekker's novels that has been made into a movie. It takes on a maze of a story. There is a new twist at every corner and descriptions that can either startle you or turn your stomach inside out. Just when you think you have the story figured out, Dekker throws something new into the story. Will the couples stuck in the house find the way to freedom? Or are they stuck in there forever?

Bride Collector: This novel takes you on a ride through the minds of those considered psychotic. Do they simply possess a gift other people don't or is there a sort of imbalance in their minds? The Bride Collector follows a serial killer who drains women's blood in a new and unusual way and displays them on walls. He is searching for the perfect bride for Jesus, but in a world of imperfection is he able to find her? Or does he change his mission?

Boneman's Daughter: I found this one to be interesting and hard to put down. A serial killer is in search of the perfect daughter, but when they don't show perfection, or rather his standard of perfection he kills them. The main character Ryan searches for the serial killer when he kidnaps Ryan's own daughter. Ryan now races against the clock to find his daughter and save her as the FBI searches for him as the suspect. Will he be able to save his daughter from a madman who sees himself as the perfect father?

Three: On the back of this novel it says "Enter a world where nothing is what it seems. Where your closest friend could be your greatest enemy. Where black is white and white is black." In this novel a man is given a note saying to confess his sins to the world or his car would explode. He goes on a whirlwind search of who the mystery writer could be. Each threat and each bomb intensifies unless Kevin confesses his sins to the world.

Obsession: Have you ever been obsessed about something? In this novel, Dekker's main character becomes so obsessed with an object that it overwhelms his life. He disappears from friends, family, and his job on his quest to find an object, he even begins to break the law. But someone else is looking for the same thing. What is so special about this item: it could hold the key to his past and possibly his future. Be careful, you may become as obsessed with this novel and not be able to put it down.

Showdown: Showdown is the first in the Paradise trilogy novels. It is a prequel of sorts. It takes you through a project a monastery tried with orphans, and if children who are secluded from the evils of the world would remain innocent or have sin within. There are twists and turns within this novel that keep you guessing at what is going to happen and where Dekker is going to take the story. What happens if the things you imagine came true? Would it change your life, the lives of those around you? Or even the world?

Saint: While Saint is the second novel in the series, it doesn't follow the same plotline, as much. It brings in some of the same characters just a few years later. It follows the life of one of the Showdown project children as he becomes brainwashed and turned into an assassin. How will he find his way back to normal life, does he even find his way back. There is competition between him and another assassin, who is this assassin's true identity. These questions and more will be answered in this novel. It doesn't really set the storyline up for the third novel with the other two children, but it does with Johnny.

Sinner: What will the world be like is any religious talk will be considered a hate crime? The last novel in the Paradise series; Sinner; takes a look at what that world would look like. Marsuvees Black returns with more knowledge and hatred of the survivors of Paradise project gone bad.

Ted Dekker is considered one of Christian Thriller's top writers. He goes unmatched in his genre, only one that comes close is Frank Peretti. His novels will keep you on the edge of your seat and wanting more of his writing. You will have a hard time putting his novels down. I hope you enjoy one or more of these books.
