Top Ten 2009 New Year's Resolutions for Adolescent (age Group Between 14 to 18years Old)

This year 2009 top ten resolutions are based on our experience and the predicaments that we have over come the last year. Resolutions are one that will take you through this New Year and make you a better person. These resolutions are one that you promise to oneself and abide to it. There is a famous saying that if you bring small changes or Kaizens in your life which help you to add value addition and widening the horizons of your thought process in huge amount in future.

I found most of the people saying that they want to quit smoking, reduce weight look more slim and trim, stop drinking, and have debt management and so on so forth.

Then I also thought why not I too write about New Year resolution. So sitting quietly I have decided to write following resolution for age group of 14 to 18 years (Adolescent). I have chosen this age group because 1) I have a son of 14 years who is an adolescent, 2) few people write about this age group.

1) Physical activity and weight reduction
The modern life styles have made the adolescent away from physical exhortation. They wake and absorb in to their home work and studies and later to their school. After school these adolescent come back sit to have their food watching TV and are reluctant to go to play outdoors. But they are more interested to see cartoon network or Harry Potter movie. There is no physical work out. There by adolescent tend to become obese.

So have more physical actives, games etc that will build agility, develop body parts, groom in to young man or woman and help them to reduce stress from studies. This will also help them to get away from sedentary life. Regular physical exercise will keep you to stay healthy through out life.

2) Reduction of Junk Food
Second 2009, New Year's resolution is eating of Junk foods. Junk Foods taste good, but don't have any nutritional value and only add fat and some times are carcinogenic in nature.

3) Watching TV

According to a study more than 60% of adolescent remain in front of TV and eat junk food, potato chips etc. Watching TV constantly and the eating habits add to obesity and made them couch potato. Watching TV constantly most of the adolescent are suffering from migraine, their power of eyes are also getting diminished. And another survey showed that young mind are getting restless and unable to concentrate and sit at one place for longer time. Third 2009, New Year's resolution will be reduction of watching TV and if required seeing some selected educational and news programmers.

4)Habit of Reading books
Out of my experience with my son and seeing other adolescent growing I found the reading books except their studies have reduced. These adolescent don't have patience for reading books. They feel comfortable in watching TV or playing video games or watching Harry Potter movies. So in my option the fourth 2009 New year resolution should be of cultivation reading habits. This should help these adolescent in getting command over the language.

5) Time management
Time and tide waits for none, is rightly said. If you don't respect time you will also not be respected by time. What the adolescent are lacking is time and load of studies on them. That is reasons many adolescent are getting fear psychosis and nervous break down before examination.

Fifth 2009, New Year resolution will be time management. Set Priorities and proper planning to have proper time managements.

6) Empathy towards ill and senior's citizens
One prime behavioural pattern of adolescent is their attitude towards the senior citizen. One should not forget that what we have today is the gift from the elders. Everybody should respect and show empathy towards senior citizens, more so by the adolescent.

So the sixth 2009 New Year's resolutions should be empathy towards ill, sufferers and senior citizens.

7) Conservation of ecology
It is important to remember to cultivate habit of conservation of ecology and greener all around us. Balance of nature and conservation are two faces of same coin. If you have to preserve the human race you have to preserve and keep the balance of nature. Adolescent should keep their surrounding clean and green. Plant more trees and create the habit of not allowing abuse of nature.

Seventh 2009, New Year's resolution will be Conservation of ecology and making the world round us more green.

8) Positive attitude
Life in this world is not without perils and hurdles, so the young mind should from the beginning have to develop positive attitude. To be successful in their lives these adolescent should cultivate right frame of mind and be positive.

Having a positive attitude and being motivated is a choice we make every day. Living a positive life is not easy, but then neither the negative living. So positive thinking and attitude helps these adolescent's to use their abilities to the fullest.

Therefore eight 2009, New Year's resolutions for the adolescent will be positive attitude and thinking.

9) Be Organized
Adolescent is a stage when the young children are no more children nor they are young people. This is a very delicate phase of one's life. In this phase an adolescent's physical, emotional and mental change occurs. So the adolescent have to prepare for their physical changes. They should eat well; keep their body clean and hygienic. They should do physical exercise so that they groom in to young men and women.
Emotional side these adolescent have to be extra conscious in their behavior.
This is the foundation time of one's life. They have to start thinking and getting prepared for their future carriers. They have to lay their fundamentals strong, so that it will be the launching pad for their future. So they have to be getting organized well, improve on their weaker points and strengthen their strong points. (SWAT analysis)

This will be the ninth 2009, new years resolution is to get organized.

10) Dream
You should always dream big and followed by proper planning and implementation and analysis will help adolescent to reach excellence. As an adolescent you should always dream, because today's dream will be your future carrier of life reality.

Live with enthusiasm, direction and with purpose. Don't listen to living in failures-they will give you faulty advice on how to succeed. Instead listen to advice from successful people.
