Top Ten 2010 Halloween Costumes

What You'll Be Seeing at Your Front Door This October 31

Last year I wrote an article detailing and giving ideas as to the top ten Halloween costumes of 2009. The article is still making waves and I've gotten e-mails about how some people got their costume ideas from it. Although it is only the middle of August, it is never too early to start planning for this years Halloween. Usually costumes are decided by the fads that are going on in the world today, whether it be movies, music, or politics, people love being creative and love searching for their Halloween costumes.

Here is my list for the top ten Halloween costumes for 2010:

10. Bill Clinton. This is 2010 right not 1995? Yes indeed it is and with Bill's declining health making front page news lately and the marriage of his daughter in early August, Bill seems to be in the news now more often than he was a few years back. With Hilary running strong as Secretary of State under Barack Obama, Clinton lovers will rejoice in taking shots at everyone while wearing a classic mask.

9. Robin Hood. With the Russell Crowe movie faltering a tad at the box office, it was still enough to bring back the beloved folklore hero to our times. Not that this is anything too spectacular for this day and age but expect to see a lot of men in tights this Halloween.

8. Shrek. The final Shrek movie came out this Summer and was a hit for children and adults alike. Although the kids might seem to enjoy this ogre more than adults, Shrek never seems to fail at coming up to my doorstep every Halloween since he started making big budget movies with big stars.

7. Avatar. As you can see movies play a big influence on costumes that come out on All Hallows Eve. Avatar, the biggest movie of all time is definitely no exception. The sleek blue costumes are available from little children to housewives.

6 Alice in Wonderland. Yet another movie resurgence that will spark a plethora of costumes this Halloween. The good thing about this movie is that it excelled in costume design and had a lot of quirky and interesting characters that someone can go off in 2010. Look for a lot of Johnny Depp's Mad Hatter and of course the Red Queen of Hearts for the females out there.

5. LeBron James. The biggest sports star of our time made a huge splash this summer when he signed with the Miami Heat and spited the fans of his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers. Boys of all ages have already flocked to sporting good stores to buy up his new jersey, and I'm positive you'll see a few four foot LeBron's running around this Halloween.

4. Toy Story. With the final installment of the Toy Story trilogy fans of all ages who saw the movies when they were kids and newly acquired fans will flock to be Woody, Jessie and Buzz this Halloween.

3. The Westerners. Cowboys are really in right now and do not expect that to change in the next few months when leading up to Halloween. The Cowboy and Cowgirl outfits (or Saloon girl, whichever route you choose to take) are also very versatile allowing you to either go all out or just wear flannel and a hat.

2. Retro. Retro costumes will be in high demand this year so look for some Happy Day's remakes and some Grease Lightning looking for some Twix candy bars come late October.

1. And the number one outfit for 2010 is.... Throwback Villains. Bad guys have never been in such high demand as they will be come this Halloween. Movie resurrections and revamps have been hot of late and that includes Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street. Look for Freddy and Jason to make a trip to your house this year.

Excellent list of ideas! I bet there are a lot of kids going as Toy Story characters this year since the 3rd movie was released fairly recently.
