Top Ten AC Content on Halloween Costumes for Kids

Sandra Essary
Thanks to AC Content Producers, getting your kids into Halloween costumes is easy, inexpensive, and fun. Many Halloween costumes can be made at home for little or no cost, and it's fun to involve your kids in the project. A couple of AC Producers even captured first place awards in costume contests with their homemade Halloween costumes. Here are my top ten picks, in no particular order.

1. Scary Kids Halloween Costumes by AC Producer Abby Johns

Abby gives us scary costumes that won't give your children nightmares. Even younger children are usually fine with these cute but scary costumes. Abby details how to put together these "scary" Halloween costumes.

2. Cute Coordinating Halloween Costumes for Siblings and Friends by AC Producer Christina Long

If for no other reason, you have to look at this article to see the picture of an adorable little boy dressed up like a pizza slice. It gives me a chuckle every time I see it. His brother or sister dressed up like a pizza cutter, and I can imagine they had some sibling fun with that one.

Another costume Christina gives us is perfect for a brother and sister. You will find a list of everything you will need, plus clear instructions on how to put together these easy-to-make Halloween costumes.

3. Make Halloween Costumes for Kids by AC Producer Crystal Ray

Crystal gives us detailed instructions on how to make creative Halloween costumes your kids will have fun wearing. With a little care, she says these can be used year after year.

In keeping with the holiday's emphasis on candy, why not go as a bag of jellybeans? This is a very colorful, eye-catching costume. Another costume I liked was the No. 2 pencil. The finishing touch is making a pink eraser cap out of pink craft foam and wrapping it around your child's head. Picture that with a straight face.

Crystal provides excellent details on how to make each costume.

4. Easy Homemade Halloween Costumes that Require No Sewing by AC Producer Tiffany B

One of the things I liked about this article was that Tiffany points out how you can really dress a costume up by using items you can buy in a dollar store or might find in a thrift store.

These Halloween costumes aren't complicated to make but will look like you spent all day on them. The instructions to make them are short and sweet but are all you need to know. Tiffany recommends wearing sweats, leotards, and anything warm. That's not surprising considering she lives in Cleveland, Ohio.

5. Don't Be Afraid: Best DIY Halloween Costumes for Girls and Boys by AC Producer Pam Gaulin

Pam has some great tips on how to help your child decide what to be this year. She also shows her resourcefulness by pointing out how to use common household items to make your Halloween costume.

Searching the deep recesses of your closets, drawers, and attic just might inspire you to come up with the next hot must-have Halloween costume. After all, as Pam points out, Halloween is "a time of imagination, dress up and pretend".

Pam gives us specific guidelines for putting together a number of costumes, but what I liked about her article is that she makes comments that are designed to fire up you and your child's imagination.

6. Quick and Easy Halloween Costumes for Kids by AC Producer Kel

If you're a whiz in the kitchen, you might like to try some of the recipes Kel provides for homemade bruises, fake blood, and homemade face paint. Who would have thought that some day you'd be mixing up batches of bruises?

Among her selection of Halloween costumes, Kel includes instructions on how to make a costume that took 1st place for her 6-year old.

7. Best Cheap Homemade Halloween Costumes Ever by AC Producer Michelle (Michy) L Devon

The voice of experience shares ideas on inexpensive costumes with two Halloween costumes she put together for her 3 and 10 year old for a grand total of only $2.00.

What's funny is that she actually made a profit that Halloween, because both costumes won cash prizes in contests! Read to find out what she did.

8. 10 Creative No Sew Halloween Costumes for Kids by AC Producer Mommy the Maid

Mommy the Maid promises us we will never touch a needle or thread making any of these 12 kids' Halloween costumes. She presents her content in an organized way, with easy-to-follow directions.

One of my favorites here is the "I'm in the Shower!" costume. A laugh riot is guaranteed to follow this costume around. A couple of quick, easy, last minute costumes round out this fun list of costumes to make.

9. Creative Halloween Costumes for Kids! by AC Producer A. Ormont

Another award-winning costume appears here in a photo. They went home with the "Most Original" Halloween costume award. AC Producer A. Ormont gives us the "how-to" on making these ideas for Halloween costumes yet leaves room for personal creativity.

10. Best Places to Find Kid's Halloween Costumes Online by AC Producer ThirtiesMama

These aren't your ordinary online Halloween costume shops. ThirtiesMama has compiled a detailed list of more unusual, better quality costumes that will make a great impression and last from one Halloween to the next. If you are willing to spend a little more on Halloween costumes for your kids, then definitely check out these online costume stores.

The fact that this is a recently written article means that the links and price quotes are current. I found the article to be very informative, as ThirtiesMama speaks from personal experience about ordering from some of these stores.

She breaks down her article by stores (four of them) and then further by age and type of costume. I was pretty impressed by the quality, variety, and downright cuteness of what these online stores have for sale.
