Top Ten Albums You Must Own

J Hoff
There are a few albums people will always love for life, have fond memories of and basically know from start to end despite not listening to that album for a long, long time. Here are some of mine:

10. Ramones - Ramones
Fast forward, fun and easy to listen to. The definitive punk album.

9. Guns n' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Few hard rock albums nailed it completely, but Appetite did. Sounds great from start to end with great contrast between Axl Rose's voice and Slash's brilliant guitar leads.

8.Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps
Starts and ends with the same song in two different versions. Half Neil Young solo and half with Crazy Horse. Both halfs are great.

7. Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street
It is difficult to say what Rolling Stones album is the best, but I'll have to go with this one. I would probably be happy for a while if I was stuck on an island with this album, a lot of electricity and a good stereo. And hopefully no storms.

6. The Beatles - Rubber Soul
With Rubber Soul, the Beatles showed just what good melodies could do. This is perhaps their best album in this regard and it is one that is very special to so many people.

5. Love - Forever Changes
Neglected - but why? Love delivered some of the best melodies ever heard in music. "Alone Again Or" has to be one of the better songs ever written.

4. The Who - Who's Next
An album that was perhaps even more ambitious than those above it on this list. Townshend was able to take music to a next level with this album.

3. Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
Poetry and music? Yeah, sure. Dylan did that the best and with Blonde on Blonde he developed some brilliant melodies.

2. Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Simply a great album that was the Beach Boys' answer to whatever the Beatles was doing. Brian Wilson was crazy but managed to develop some excellent music.

1. The Beatles - Revolver
A classic album that defined the way music was done. Most people seem to give this credit to Sgt. Pepper, but it is silly to neglect that they did the same with "Revolver".

Almost made it: Grateful Dead - American Beauty, John Lennon - Imagine, The Band - The Band, The Clash - The Clash.
