1. Amla (Indian Gooseberry, Phyllanthus Emblica)
Amla contains up to 720 mg of vitamin C per 100 gm of fresh pulp, which is approximately 20 times the vitamin C content of an orange. Vitamin C is an antioxidant essential for cellular health and for maintaining optimal defense against colds and many other diseases. Vitamin C also plays an important role in the transfer of energy to the mitochondria which serve as cellular power-plants. Amla also has immune boosting and anti-aging properties, besides antibacterial, cardio-tonic, antioxidant, antiviral, and resistance-building properties that prevent infection. The combined antioxidant and antibacterial properties of Amla enable it to fight the effects of aging in the skin such as dullness and developing of wrinkles. It also enhances calcium absorption, thus, preventing premature graying of hairs and stimulating follicles to ensure continuous hair growth.
2. Ashwagandha (Withania Somnifera)
Ashwagandha's leaf extract stimulates our Immune system and enhances T-cell activation. Ashwagandha contains powerful natural antioxidants that relieve the body of stress, enhance cognition, reduce inflammation, and aid in anti-aging and anti-arthritic activities. It contains alkaloids that have relaxant and antispasmodic effects on intestinal, uterine, bronchial, tracheal, and blood-vascular muscles that detoxify our body.
3. Guduchi - Tinospora Cordiofolia (Indian Tinospora)
Guduchi improves body resistance to infection by increasing antibody production and activates the immune system. It has also been proven to have beneficial effects on would- healing for diabetic patients suffering from ulcers. Guduchi is used in Ayurveda for treatment of diverse diseases by strengthening body resistance and as an immunomodulator. It also facilitates digestion, enhances memory, and increases longevity.
4. Vidarikanda - Pueraria Tuberosa (Indian Kudzu)
Vidari rejuvenates the body, increases vitality and provides energy. Concentrated levels of Vidari's active constituents stimulate peripheral circulation to the extremities resulting in a warming effect on muscle tissue and improved functioning of muscles. Vidari also stimulates the production of important anabolic growth hormones that regulate metabolic processes in almost all tissues throughout our body. Growth hormones facilitate muscle growth and also rejuvenate our skin and restore fairness and glow by increasing moisture levels. Ayurvedic physicians have used it for centuries to treat low libido and also to treat those suffering from low sperm count and sperm motility.
5. Shweta Musali(Asparagus Adscendens)
Shveta Musali is known for its immune boosting and rejuvenating properties, and also as a remedy for degenerative disorders usually associated with aging such as diabetes and arthritis. Shveta Mushali also has aphrodisiac properties and is known for enhancing low sex drive and promoting sperm production.
6. Draksha (Grape,Vitis Vinifera)
Draksha is an excellent source of Proanthocyanidins, which exhibit potent anti-oxidant properties and are responsible for its cardiovascular benefits. Recent studies have indicated that Draksha decreases LDL cholesterol, the bad cholesterol. It is also a good source of bioflavonoids, which help to prevent capillary bleeding in diabetes, edema (fluid retention in the body tissues), inflammation from injury and atherosclerosis, by reducing plaque built-up within the artery walls. Moreover, its diuretic, laxative and cooling properties make it an excellent detoxifier.
7. Yashtimadhu (Licorice, Glycyrrhiza Glabra)
The roots and rhizomes of Yashtimadhu are known for their potent antioxidant and hepato-protective properties that protect the liver, promote the growth of healthy cells, and protect cells from premature and abnormal aging.
8. Garlic (Allium Sativum)
Garlic is one of the most potent anti-aging herbs used in Ayurveda, especially known for its excellent benefits to our cardiovascular system. It is also an excellent anti-oxidant. Its health benefits are attributed to main compounds - allicin and diallyl sulphide.
9. Gokhshura (Tribulus Terretris)
Gokhshura has been used for centuries in Ayurveda to rejuvenate the urinary tract, kidneys, prostrate gland and reproductive organs. It has a stimulating effect on the liver, helping it to convert cholesterol and fats into hormones and energy.
10. Arjuna (Terminalia Arjuna)
Arjuna is a well-known heart tonic and is used extensively by Ayurvedic physicians to treat cardiac debility. It is the best Ayurvedic herb, known extensively for its special properties of strengthening the muscles of the heart.
