Microwave
Alright, this is the bread and butter of college appliances, and surely you did not forget this one. From hot pockets to microwavable dinners... the microwave will be your go-to-appliance for almost every meal, every day. Hell, you can even boil water or dry clothes (NOT RECOMMENDED) in one of these bad boys! Speed is the name of the game in college, and that's exactly what this baby offers.
Mini Fridge
This one is often overlooked, especially if you have a roommate. Red Bulls are like $20 for 3 or something ridiculous, and how are you going to keep his paws off of them? Easy: get a mini fridge for your room. Energy Drinks are a vital part of the college life, as you will blow your week away and then realize you have your big paper due the next morning, and you will have to somehow pull an all-nighter to get it done in time. Energy drinks allow you to do just that. Or, you know, you can store food in here for those of you who are too lazy to walk 35 feet to the kitchen and get something.
Toaster
Toast is really good, and really easy to make. You can make buttered toast, toast with jelly, or even (for you pro chefs out there) cinnamon-sugar toast! You can even impress that chick you somehow managed to bring home last night by cooking foreign exquisite meals such as Bagels in this thing!
Electric Can Opener
Let's face it, normally can openers are a pain in the ass. You have to line it up, then twist it, and hope it doesn't come de-railed. Who has time for that in college? Seriously. With an electric can opener you simply throw that can on the magnet and push a button. Yeah, it really is that simple.
Electric Grill
Alright, a dorm/apartment/house without a George Foreman grill is not a college kid's house. You can only live on microwavable food for so long until you die of radiation poisoning, or something. Throw your poker winnings into a pound of hamburger and fry some patties up on this thing and eat like a king.
Coffee Maker
Alright, really, do I need to explain this one? For those of you who don't like coffee: learn to like it. Coffee is the staple of waking up in the morning when you're going on 2 hours of sleep. It will give you the swift kick in the behind that you need to survive at least 1 extra hour withou being ridiculously tired... which is vital to pretending you are paying attention in class.
Electric Kettle
Alright, so a lot of people have probably never even heard of this appliance. Hell, I never heard of them until my girlfriend drug me into Linens & Things (or a store like that, can't remember). These things are amazing, you simply pour some water into them and turn them on... then the water boils! Not only is it useful for that, but you can make some tea, or make some quick soup as well.
Slow Cooker
Not just your grandma's appliance any more! You know why your mom and grandma always use their slow cooker and seem to love it so much? Because you can make some amazing food by simply throwing it in the thing and letting it sit all day. You heard right, you don't have to cook, it does it for you. You can even get a big enough one that you can set it in the morning, then bring your friends home after class and impress them with a meal. Then they owe you, and having your friends in debt is an awesome feeling.
Toaster Oven
Alright, no matter how much you think you can fit that entire bagette into your normal toaster, you can't. And no, you can't ram your homemade sub in your normal toaster to get it toasted, either. That's what the toaster oven is for. This appliance can make your sandwiches and subs that much better in a matter of seconds. Or you can make some brownies, college kids apparently love brownies at parties.
Hot Plate
Some colleges won't allow this because they burn down dorms, but if yours does then pick one up. If you are actually responsible (lol) and keep an eye on this thing while it's on, it can whip up some great meals. Just think of it like this: a hot plate is the burner from your stove, but is portable.
