Top Ten Children Christmas Movies

Wheelsy
- A Christmas Story: You'll shoot your eye out! Christmas just wouldn't be the same without these unforgettable words. All he wants for Christmas is a Red Rider BB gun. This movie tops the list as the most can't miss of them all.

- Elf: Buddy is an orphan who sneaks into Santa's bag one Christmas. When Santa gets back to the North Pole he decides not to send Buddy back to the orphanage but to raise him as an elf at the North Pole. When he starts to tower over the other elves and not fit into their world he finds out that he is really a human and finds out who is real father is. Buddy then goes on a journey to find his real father, but quickly finds out he doesn't belong in the human world either. Eventually Buddy saves Christmas by helping Santa Claus fix his sleigh and even marries the human that he fell in love with.

- How the Grinch Stole Christmas: If you don't love this holiday classic, then your heart is two sizes too small. Sorry that was a lame excuse for a joke. Now I prefer the cartoon over the live movie, but I think either one is good enough to help make your holidays just that much better.

- The Santa Claus: What would you do if your Dad accidentally killed Santa Claus and had to take over the jolly fat man's job? This movie tells the story of just this situation. Scott Calvin, who just happens to have the same initials as Santa Claus accidentally scares old St. Nick while he is on his roof. St. Nick falls off and is killed, leaving Scott Calving (who doesn't even believe in Santa Claus) to take over for Santa Claus. We then witness the wacky loops Scott Calvin has to go through with his new life as Father Christmas.

- Home Alone: Kevin's family miscounts the kids as they head to airport to go on Christmas Vacation and Kevin is left at home for the holidays. While alone, some neighborhood burglars realize he would be an easy target and plan to rob the house. Kevin finds out about their plan and decides to booby trap the house and keep the burglars out. When they come they find that the house is not an easy target and they end up being outsmarted by Kevin before being arrested. Throughout the entire ordeal Kevin learns to appreciate his family.

- The Muppet Christmas Carol: The muppet characters put on a memorable version of this classic story. I love the music and the light feeling that the characters give to an otherwise serious story.

- A Charlie Brown Christmas: Who can forget the Christmas tree that Charlie Brown picked out at the Christmas tree farm, and who hasn't picked one of those out themselves, especially if you've gone up into the forest to chop one down yourself. Remember how full it looked out in forest and how bare it was once you got it inside?

- Mickey's Christmas Carol: I don't enjoy this movie quite as much as the Muppet's version, but I believe it is the second best choice. Again, the lighthearted attitude of the show helps to lesson the seriousness of the story, while still portraying the important elements.

- Frosty the Snowman: When children building a snowman find a runaway hat of a struggling magician, they use it on their snowman and he comes to life. Now it's up to the kids to get Frosty back to the North Pole before he melts.

- Miracle on 34th Street: There are different versions of this classic, but my favorite comes from the early 90's remake. It is a feel good story that talks about the pros and cons of believing in Santa Claus.
