Top Ten Christmas Gifts for Men, 2009

Laura Frost
With Thanksgiving just right around the corner, Christmas will soon be on its way here too. Are you prepared for that special guy in your life? Shopping for a man can sometimes be endlessly frustrating. There are different age groups of men who prefer different gifts. However, it's been a misconception through-out the ages that men love getting ties. Whatever you do, don't buy your guy a tie! Hopefully these gift ideas will help.

Tools- When it comes to men, you can never go wrong with tools. Granted, certain age groups of men will be happier to unwrap tools then other age groups. This gift is perfect for the settled guy, one who has a family and likes to spend time in the garage.

Here are few tools men request most- Air Compressor, Reciprocating Saw, Nail Gun, Cordless Drills and Hammer Drill.

Grill and Utensil Set- This is another gift that can never be wrong when it comes to a man. It is hard to get a man into kitchen to cook unless they were born a natural chef, but men do love a good barbeque. This is another gift that is best for the "settled guy", but single men love it also so that when Super Bowl comes around they can barbeque. When buying a grill, it is best to go with stainless steel.

Weber Genesis S-LP $310

Three-burner Propane Gas Grill with side burner $300

Vantage 6703C Stainless Steel Gas Grill $730

Wallet- Most guys have a wallet but wouldn't mind having a new every few years. I would recommend however not giving them a wallet too many years in a row. Men are always carrying their wallets in their back pockets; therefore they want something that feels more worn in, rather than something that feels bulky.

Watch- I would suggest when looking into watch's you shop based off of what the man in your life does for his occupation and then buy accordingly. Some older men would prefer a pocket watch which you can engrave with a special message. Here are just a few watches popular right now.

Aquatimer Cousteau $120

J-12 $120

YatchMaster II- $140

Digital Camera- Men love digital cameras, especially those who have settled down, mainly because vacation time means plenty of pictures and dad's love to be in control of the camera. I would recommend a camera that can both record and take pictures so that you can save your favorite memories to play back over and over again through your life together.

Kindle II- This gift is for the man who loves to read, loves technology or just loves the gizmos and gadgets of the technical world. This is a hardware and software platform designed by amazon.com to allow e-books to be read along with digital media to be looked at in your bed, on a plane, or just at the park without the bulk of a laptop.

Sports and Concerts Tickets- If you are at a loss when it comes to buying a gift for that special guy in your life and none of these other gifts come anywhere near what your guy would love then try his favorite sports ticket or concert ticket. Find out what team or band your guy loves most and buy him a ticket.

Magazine Subscription- Not all men are into magazines while other's have a collection of sports, sports illustrated, popular science, national geographic or "other" magazines in their place. Find out if your guy has a collection going and get him a year's subscription to his favorite magazine.
And finally, for the man who has everything and you couldn't possibly find anything to get him, get him this.

Weather Girl- This is a digital girl thermometer who dresses or undresses according to what the weather is going to be like.
You can find her online, for around $25-$30

These are just a few gift ideas, there are many more ideas that men would love. It is most important to go with what your special guy loves most. Some men are very simple beings and would just love to have a day of football without doing much else; other men want a White Chocolate Mocha Frappuccino\ Light Blended Coffee - with whipped cream machine. If that's your guy, a Starbuck's card might in order!
