Top Ten Country Tours for the Summer of 2010

Mike Spain
The summer is full of great country concerts. Jimmy Buffett may not fit into country nicely however a case can be made. The same can be said about the Eagles, however the Eagles are adding The Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban as support. The Dixie Chicks or Keith Urban could easily headline on their own. Then there are the superstars like Tim McGraw, Brooks & Dunn, Montgomery Gentry, Brad Paisley, and Toby Keith. Read on to see who else is touring.

The Eagles

The Eagles tour could definitely be written about in an article about rock concerts. The Eagles sound fits with rock, classic rock and country. According to Eaglesband.com "the Eagles, Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban will be touring together for the first time when they hit the road on June 8th for a North American stadium concert tour." Adding the Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban makes this tour one of the biggest in country music.

Tim McGraw

Country superstar Tim McGraw will have his Southern Voice tour in high gear through out the summer of 2010. Tim McGraw "has sold over 40 million units and landed 31 singles at Number 1 in the US" according to timmcgraw.com. 31 number one songs does qualify one as a super star and his tour is sure to be a must see concert event this summer.

Brooks & Dunn

Brooks & Dunn Farewell Tour is another must see Country concert event. The band that brought you such hits as Rock My World, Red Dirt Road and Boot Scootin' Boogie are calling it a career and fans get one more chance to catch them this summer.

Brad Paisley

Brad Paisley's H20 Tour in support of his American Saturday Night album is sure to be one of the biggest country tours of the summer. Brad already has 16 number one hits in his career according to his website. Paisley is a talented guitarist and his songs often show off his great since of humor. Add in support acts Darius Rucker and Justin Moore and the Paisley concert gets only better.

Jimmy Buffett

Jimmy Buffett may not fit neatly in the country category. Likewise his tropical, music may not fit neatly in the rock or pop categories. However, recent hits like "It's Five O'clock Somewhere" with Alan Jackson do place Buffett in the country category. Also it does not hurt to have Mac McAnally in your band to tilt it just a tad to the country side. No matter where you classify his music his summer tours will be among the top concert draws of the summer.

Montgomery Gentry

Montgomery Gentry is kicking off his Country Throwdown Tour. According to CMT Gentry is bringing his friends Jamey Johnson, Little Big Town and Jack Ingram. If that is not enough for a good time the concert "Ryan Bingham and the Dead Horses, Eric Church, the Eli Young Band, the Lost Trailers, Heidi Newfield, Jonathan Singleton & the Grove and Emily West will also take part in the multi-stage festival."

Toby Keith and Trace Adkins

This country tour should certainly rank among the summers best. Country super star Toby Keith would be a big enough draw to be added to this list. Adding Trace Adkins an accomplished musician in his own right gives this country tour the right one, two punch to be a knockout country show.

Sugarland

A list of hot country shows for the summer would not be complete if we did not include some of the woman of country music. Yes, support acts the Dixie Chicks and Heidi Newberg do count. However, we need some headlining woman. Sugarland fronted by Jennifer Nettles does fit the build and their 56 city tour which kicked off in the spring is certain to gain momentum in the summer.

Rascal Flatts

Rascal Flatts are a contemporary country hit machine. Their albums have spurned hit ater hit and along the way the band has gained a large fan base. There summer tour will certainly be among the best of the summer.

Lady Antebellum

Relatively new to the country scene, Lady Antebellum has been tearing up the country charts. The band features female lead vocals but also a talented band and great duets. The band is touring with Love and Theft. Lady Antebellum have a bright future and their tour is definitely worth a listen.

Most excellent job Mike. These icons are still some of the best in the biz! I am the only grandfather on my block I bet that loves Zepplin, Rush, Garth Brooks and Beethoven. I love all kinds of music except Rap. The only kind of Rap I like is Saran Wrap! LOL
