1. When Harry Met Sally (1989). This has to be the greatest couples movie of all times. Why? Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal give terrific performances. Even though they were not friends, and then friends, they eventually realized they were meant to be together. During the way, all kinds of events ensue. The most unforgettable part of this movie is the fake orgasm scene in a restaurant by Meg Ryan.
2. Jerry Maquire (1996). Jerry Maguire has to take second place for a romantic couples movie. Renee Zellweger realizes she is in love with Tom Cruise, and he overhears her tell her sister the morning after they have sex. Of course, he asks her to marry him, because otherwise she is going to move away when the business falls apart. However, Renee realizes that he was never really in love with her, so she lets him go. It doesn't take long for him to see that Renee is where his heart is, where he feels at home.
3. Kate and Leopold (2001). Now here's a great couples movie, and one with two hot actors, Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman. This movie is about the destiny between two people, since somehow Meg Ryan's character ends up in a photo from back in time, meaning she must have been there. It also is romantic, because two people from a different time fall in love. What a way to speak for couples.
4. Fun With Dick and Jane (2005). What I like about this married couple movie is that the two of them work together to find a solution to their financial problem. Yes, this involves resorting to crime, but that's why it's funny. The movie can also be considered a romantic comedy. The movie is actually pretty hilarious!
5. Last of the Mohicans (1992). Daniel Day Lewis and Madeline Stowe heat up the screen in this passionate couples movie. The movie tells a story about history, but also sets the stage for two people to come together. The movie also has a subplot where two of the supporting actors fall in love.
6. Frankie and Johnny (1991). This is a classic couples movie. The two work at a diner type restaurant, and Al Pacino does everything he can to get Michelle Pfeiffer's to fall for him. Problem is, she has been hurt badly in the past. This movie is a good flick because it shows how someone can really be there for someone and help them past their issues, and then the two can be together. I wish this could happen in real life more often!
7. Funny Farm (1988). You may or may not remember this Chevy Chase movie from the 80's. The married couple buy a house out in the country, so that Chevy can write a book. Funny thing is, he gets writer's block instead of having the peaceful environment help him. His wife, however, decides to start writing herself and enjoys the success he had been seeking. You can imagine the problems this causes. This is a romantic comedy, and a very enjoyable movie to watch.
8. Mr. Mom (1983). The oldest movie on the list, Mr. Mom is a movie about a guy letting the woman make the living, while he takes care of the kids. All kinds of drama play out, with dad at first not having the slightest idea what to do to run the household! However, it's about a couple working together as a team, no matter who makes the money to pay the bills.
9. The Notebook (2004). If you want to watch a touching couples movie, then this is for you. Be ready to shed a tear, even if you're an alpha male! In this movie, the woman in the couple is losing her memory due to Alzheimer's, and the man is trying to help her remember their life together. He reads her a book that she wrote before she lost her memory, to help her recall events of their past. It is very touching when she does remember, but so hard to deal with when she doesn't even know him. This movie shows what some couples go through, and what some will do to keep their love alive.
10. Nights in Rodanthe (2008). Diane Lane and Richard Gere come together for their second movie (remember Unfaithful). It's interesting how two strangers can come together so quickly and get feelings for each other. But hey, this is the stuff dreams are made of for couples, yes?
