As children we've probably all watched cartoons and animated movies, but unless you think about it you don't realize just how many fictional mice and rats there were and still are in those movies, shows and cartoons. Here are my top ten picks for fictional mice and rat characters.
10. The Hickory, Dickory, Dock Mouse
The hickory, dickory, dock mouse that ran up the clock in the nursery rhyme.
Hickory, dickory, dock,
The mouse ran up the clock.
The clock struck one,
The mouse ran down,
Hickory, dickory, dock
9. Speedy Gonzales
Speedy Gonzales is the first mouse I remember seeing on tv as a child. He was known as , "The fastest mouse in all of Mexico." and wore a large yellow sombrero. Speedy could run very fast and while running into save his friends he would yell, "¡Andale! ¡Andale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! ¡Hepa¡ ¡Hepa! ¡Hepa! Yeehaw!"
8. Timothy Q. Mouse
Timothy Q. Mouse is the only friend to Dumbo after his mother is taken from him and Timothy is determined to make Dumbo feel better. Timothy takes him to see his mother and teaches him how to use his ears to fly.
7. Mighty Mouse
Mighty Mouse was the Superman of the mice community. He was strong, had X-ray vision, could turn back time and could fly. Mighty Mouse would sing, "Here I come to save the day!" as he flew into action.
6. Templeton
Templeton the rat from the movie, Charlotte's Web who was always trying to figure out how to get more food. Templeton helps Wilbur and Charlotte throughout the movie, but only when he is bribed with food.
5. Brain
Brain from the cartoon Pinky and the Brain, was the smartest of the two genetically enhanced mice in a cage at Acme Labs. Each episode Brain would devise and plan to take over the world, but it never seemed to happen for him.
4. Remy
The rat in Paris who cooks in the movie, Ratatouille. Remy hides inside the chef hat of Linguini, and helps him cook delicious food by pulling this way and that on his hair.
3. Danger Mouse
Danger Mouse is an English Super Hero/ Secret Agent that closely resembles James Bond but danger Mouse wears and eye patch.
2. Reepicheep
Reepicheep is a mouse character from the movie, The Chronicles of Narnia and was a major character in Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. He carries a rapier and is an experienced warrior who is fearless and quick to defend his honor but is completely courteous. He is a descendant of mice who did a good deed and was then given the ability to talk.
1. Ben and Socrates
Ben and Socrates from the 1971 and then the remake in 2003 movie, Willard. Willard trains his rat friends to get revenge for him but he quickly loses control of the rats. Socrates was the nice rat while Ben was the evil rat who ended up turning on Willard.

Post a CommentAs a child, I used to draw rats, which came naturally. Not sure why. Other subjects evaded my efforts with pencil and paper.
Mickey is still my favorite Mouse.
The mouse on Walt Disney's Ben & Me is pretty great.
