Top Ten Gift Ideas for a 6 Year Old Boy, From Power Rangers to Board Games

I am a mother of a six year old boy, so I have an idea of what boys that age might like. Mainly, because I asked him! And, of course, I live with him. I tend to notice the begging that he does when certain commercials come on! Here are the top ten gift ideas we came up with together.

1. Power Rangers
My son loves Power Rangers. I am not being very specific with this one, because he loves everything Power Rangers. Even if he has a toy and gets a duplicate, he still loves it. His number one pick right now in this category would be the Dragon Rootcare Command Center. This is a Power Rangers Mystic Force Playset.

2. Hot Wheels
I know, they've been around forever, but boys still love them! An added bonus is that they're cheap! If the little boy's father likes a certain brand of car, the boy seems to like it too. My husband personally likes Dodge. Therefore, my son does too. He does love other brands too, but he has a special interest in Dodge.

3. Video Games
Any video game that has to do with the child's favorite character is great. They also seem to love racing games.

4. Movies
My son loves Power Rangers movies. He also likes Pokemon quite a bit. The newer Disney movies interest him too. They also start to like action movies.

5. Leapster L-Max
This one is a bit expensive. It costs about $80, and the games are about $30. It is well worth it though. My son got one for Christmas last year and still loves it. All the kids that come over do too. It is educational and fun at the same time. The Leapster can also plug straight into your television for bigger screen viewing.

6. Board Games
Any game that can get your family to sit down together is great. Our family really loves the classic Monolopy. The kids get a kick out of making money and owning properties. My son loves this game. Maybe because he beats us every time! Card games are great also. One of my six year old's favorites is Uno. Another favorite is a plain deck of cards for a game of war.

7. Dishes
More specifically, cups. This one may sound silly, but my son insisted that he loves to get cups as gifts. We brought him back a cup from a cruise we went on, and he loved it. He also likes character sets with the plates and bowls. If your six year old has siblings, having different cups for each child may be a good idea. It could keep a couple arguments from happening.

8. Pictures/Posters
Anything to hang on their walls to show their pride in the things that they love. Some ideas would be, cars, their favorite character, band, or actor. Boys love this! It is also a quick way to change the look of any room.

9. Books
This age is great for buying books. They are really starting to get the hang of reading. I believe getting them books will boost their confidence in the subject. My son is always looking for another book to read. Try to get age appropriate books. If you get a book for him that is too hard to read, it will only frustrate him. Remember, reading can be fun!

10. Clothes
I know alot of children groan when they get clothes as gifts, but they can be a really great gift. If you get him a funny shirt, he will probably love it. If it has a character on it, it will more than likely be a hit too. They can show their pride in their favorite things every day just by getting dressed. My son loves to get cool shirts as gifts.
