Speaking as a mom the best present I have received (up to now) was a personalized handmade gift that my son had a lady in Canada make up for me..Pages from the Heart Gift books. Its made from a real hard back book its very sentimental and beautiful,on one side it has a poem called the gardener's prayer (I am an avid gardener)on the other side it has some beautiful poppies(my favorite flowers) in paper toll, it is the most beautiful thing that I have ever received but that aside my son personally gave instructions as to what was to be included in this gift so it would be very special just for me, and that means the world to me.Our children seldom show they care so this gift is priceless to me .

that page has a great selection of American hand made metal craftings that most moms or older women like. it lasts forever and makes it look like you put a lot of thought into it.

I was googling for ideas for a gift for my mom for mothers day. I am juggling between a remote car starter and a birthstone necklace with her childrens birthstones on it, like the ones at Red Envelope or http://www.lunaandstella.com.

    Practical or thoughtful? Tough call!

I love the car starter and i never get headaches. I think that the car starter is the best gift ever!!!!!!!!!

  • Intre 12/18/2008

the remote starter is not a great idea on newer cars, as most newer cars have ECU engine immobilization which can easily cause significant headaches with a remote starter installed.

it's also a waste of fuel and the proper way to warm a vehicle is with the motor under load (car in gear driving around). your vehicle should be idle no longer then 45 seconds before putting it in gear.

2 minutes driving around will warm the vehicle just as much as 10 minutes or more at idle.
