What kind of Christmas gift can you buy for someone who loves to write? Here are some great gift ideas for the aspiring author in your family. There are so many great gifts than can benefit your aspiring writer.

10. The Writer's Market Book 2007- This is the most comprehensive and up to date book that can help your aspiring author learn everything they need to know about getting published. This is a great guide that lists publisher's requirements for every genre of writing. These books are updated yearly and it is very important to keep a current copy so you can market yourself accordingly.

9. Notebooks- Writer's are always in need of new notebooks. If they are anything like me, I use them up quicker than I can go to the store and buy them. If they prefer to use a laptop, then go with printer paper instead.

8. Floppy Discs- A bundle of these makes a great gift. It is great to have extra backup. This will help your aspiring writer to keep themselves better organized and creates added storage for their work.These can be purchased at any computer store or even the large retail superstores( Walmart).

7. Reading Material- Books make great gifts for the aspiring author. The best writer's tend to be readers. Everyone needs resource material and this is also a great way to see other writing styles and to understand how author's are able to make their ideas work.

6. Research Material-If your aspiring author likes to write about true crime , then buy them books about true crime or forensic studies. This will help them to broaden their ideas and to be able to "talk the talk." Research material can come in all shapes and sizes and can be used for any genre of writing. If you know what they like, then stick to that. You can't go wrong.

5.Small hand held thesaurus- An electronic thesaurus makes a great gift idea for the aspiring writer. We all tend to get stuck using the same words and common phrases. This is one way to help combat the dreaded writer's block.

4. Logitech Personal Pen Scanner- These are a bit pricey, but they can do amazing things. They use software that is able to scan full text just by running the pen over the hand written words. The most advanced digital pen scanners can scan multiple lines of text and transfer them to your computer.

3. The Wrong Word Dictionary- This is a dictionary of 2000 of the most commonly misused words. It is a great editing tool and a wonderful reference manual for the aspiring author. It helps the writer to choose the correct word every time.

2. Itty bitty book light- This little lamp is sleek, compact and lightweight. All reader's and writer's need such a tool as this. It is portable and made even smaller than its predecessors.

A laptop is a great gift because it can be mobile, and with the wireless capability, your aspiring author can quickly and easily access the internet for resource info. Laptops can even be personalized to fit anyone's style.
