1.Back N Belly Pillow
One of the hardest things to do when you're pregnant is get a good night sleep.
Help make it easier for her. This large body pillow elevates the hips and conforms to the body's natural shape as well as doing a number of other really wonderful things to allow your favorite pregnant woman to sleep. My sister's husband affectionately calls it "The Great Barrier Reef" since it takes up so much space in their bed, but she sleeps so much better now because of it and when she gets out of bed, her hubby rolls right over on it. He loves it just as much as her.
2.Prenatal Massage
Her back is sore, her feet and hands are swollen, she's 3 times what she used to weigh. Her body is going through so many changes; she deserves a little pampering before the big day. This isn't just any massage. This one is geared specifically for pregnant woman. So it's not only relaxing for her but it's also good for the baby. It reduces emotional and physical stress and is a welcome retreat for any mom-to-be.
3.Cocoa Butter, Vitamin E infused lotions or gift sets
It may be an oldwives tale that these lotions actually do reduce the signs of stretch marks but sometimes the power of the mind is stronger than science. It's difficult to do anything to prevent stretch marks, especially if you're genetically predisposed to getting them but, in some cases, you can reduce the appearance of them using Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E. Anyway, even if it doesn't make those marks disappear, the act of rubbing the lotion on the stomach serves as a massage to the baby, so you know he/she will appreciate that!
4.Pedicures
Just because she can't see them, doesn't mean she doesn't want them to look pretty! So many things are off-limits during a pregnancy but this isn't one of them. Give your mom-to-be the luxury of a spa pedicure. The massage and soak will feel great on her feet and ankles and, if you're lucky, your salon will have one of those massage chairs as well. Pretty toes make any woman feel good, no matter what size her stomach may have expanded to!
5.Something from her registry
If she's already registered, check it out and get her something from there. Whether she's already had a baby shower or not, there are always things that she still needs or hasn't gotten yet. Everything she gets now, pre-baby, is just one more thing she has to worry about once the bundle of joy actually arrives. If she hasn't registered yet, a gift card to Target or Babies-R- Us (2 of the big places for new moms to register) are always appreciated and she'll be able to use those no matter what.
6.A night out
Whether it's tickets to the movies or a show or even just a gift certificate to a restaurant, give her something so that her and her hubby (or friend) can use to enjoy themselves (ALONE!) before the baby comes. Once the baby arrives, couple time will be all but non-existent, so this gives them the chance to spend as much time together as possible before their world turns upside down.
7.Relaxing Bath Sets
Besides the Cocoa Butter, hook your soon-to-be mom up with some scented lotions, bath gels and bubble bath. Most girls love these things any way, but a pregnant woman needs as many things in her day to make her feel relaxed and comfortable as she can get. Let her take some "me" time in the bath or shower with some of these sweet scents before and after baby is born.
8.Books
Pregnant women love books. Maybe it's because they spend a lot of times in waiting rooms or taking relaxing baths (hopefully!) or even on bed rest (hopefully not!) but new reading material is always a good gift. Whether you buy the latest baby names book, or one of those "Everything a new mom should know" books, or even something from the best sellers list, she'll love it.
9.Food
This one should be pretty obvious, pregnant women like to eat especially now that they are eating for two. Maybe she's been craving cheese popcorn or she's trying follow a strict healthy diet, find out what it is that she likes and/or wants to eat and get her that. There are a million food basket companies that sell everything from fruits to chocolate to meats. Indulge her food cravings! She, if not her waistline, will thank you for it!
10.Clothes
OK, this one is tricky but appreciated. Her body is growing at a strange rate and what fit her today, may not fit her tomorrow. She's in desperate need of clothes that fit. What makes it tricky is sizing and style. If you know her style and your comfortable enough to pick things out, get her an outfit or two. You'll have to guess the size but the sales people in the store can be a big help with that. Keep in mind what her body type is and how much weight she's been gaining to tell them when you go to the store.

Post a CommentI was distressed and offended to receive anti-stretch mark creams, pregnancy-related undergarments, and informational/self-help books from my in-laws. I prefer to choose and purchase such personal items myself or receive those items from only my own mother or best friend.
Great ideas! I know that is pretty much all I wanted when I was pregnant both times. LOL Great article!
