1. Use nail polish. Nail polish works well on Easter eggs. The great thing about nail polish is you probably already have some sitting around the house, maybe even some colors you aren't using. So, you won't have to purchase anything new.
2. Use old clothes to make an 'outfit' for the egg. Cut up old clothes to fit around the egg, and then glue them in place. You could use an old silk blouse and drape the egg. Or, try a flannel shirt to give the egg a country flare.
3. Find some old stickers that never got used. Maybe you're a classroom teacher, and you didn't use the stickers you bought to reward your elementary kids for good work. Or, perhaps you're a teenager, and you have glitter stickers or heart stickers still sitting around.
4. Use old wrapping paper and bows. If you untie the bows, you can then tie them around the egg. Wrap the egg with the paper and then tie it with a bow. It could be a Christmas egg!
5. Do you have any old fur hoodies? Cut out the fur and make a furry animal egg by gluing the fur to the egg.
6. Icing. If you just baked a cake recently, you may have some leftover decorator icing. This is the kind that you write letters or make designs with. Make designs on the egg with the icing.
7. Use magic markers and stenograph words onto the egg. Using thin ink permanent markers and stenography letters, make words on the egg. Or, you could just write on the egg yourself with the markers.
8. Use old dye you have sitting around. Did you recently tie-dye your jeans or a shirt? Do you have any of the dye left? Let the eggs sit in the dye to color them.
9. Lifesavers. You're probably wondering what in the world you could do to decorate an egg using lifesavers. Well, break up a lifesaver into many small pieces, by hitting it with a hammer or something onto a safe hard surface. Then, glue the tiny pieces onto the egg. It will look like tiny jewels on the egg. A red lifesaver will look like rubies, and a green lifesaver emeralds.
10. Old jewelry. Use old jewelry to decorate the egg. Find ways to put old necklaces and bracelets on the egg, either using glue or the fasteners for the necklace. Or, you could use old charms and glue them onto the egg.
These ideas are all ways to go green for the environment this Easter while decorating Easter eggs. Enjoy the Easter holiday season!
