Erin
If you haven't decided on your New Year's Resolutions, here are ten great healthy suggestions.

1. Lose weight-This is probably the most popular of the healthy resolutions. This is healthy because many of us are obese and need to lose a few extra pounds. However make sure that your goals are realistic.

2. Exercise more-This is a great resolution; because the more you exercise, the more you build our heart muscle. This helps your heart to work more efficiently. It also helps you to be at lower risk for cardiovascular disease and other chronic diseases.

3. Eat Better-This resolution is healthy, because your body needs proper nutrition to function at its maximum ability level. You will also feel better when you eat better and possibly lose some of your excess fat.

4. Stop smoking-This is an awesome resolution for every one in your life. If you stop smoking, then you will live longer. You will also be at lower risk for cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other chronic diseases. You will also lower your loved ones risk for those same diseases, as second hand smoke is just as harmful as smoking.

5. Stop drinking excessively-This is a healthy resolution, because it is not good for your body (specifically your liver) to have an excessive intake of alcohol.

6. Be less stressed-Your body can become physically ill when too much stress is placed on it. Even if you can't actually take away stressors, you can at least learn to deal with them in a more positive way.

7. Include more calcium in your diet-This one is specifically for you women. To make sure that you are combating osteoporosis, you will want to take a calcium supplement or get at least 3 servings of dairy a day.

8. Get medical check-ups- Getting periodic check-ups is very important to catching problems early and staying healthy.

9. Give yourself more free time-If you work full time and have a family you are probably juggling lots of things and striving to please other people and not yourself. It is very important that you take some down time to relax or you can start to see physical symptoms of fatigue. Your immune system may also start to lag.

10. Get 8 hours of sleep at night-Your body will function better, you'll feel better, you will be more alert, and you'll be more productive; if you are getting more sleep at night. If you are short changing yourself on sleep, you may experience a drop in the ability of your immune system to fight of disease.
