Top Ten Holiday Gift Ideas for Moms

What to Buy Your Mother This Year?

PERFUME: Buying the right perfume can be a little tricky, but worthwhile if you make sure that your mom can handle the scent picked out for her. Take a look at the perfume she is currently wearing to give you an idea of her fragrance preferences. Ask a sales lady in the perfume department to assist you with selecting the perfect scent for your mother. Around the holidays, many department stores offer reasonably priced gift sets that include the perfume, lotion, and shower gel. Sometimes you can even get a gift with your purchase or a gift wrap which saves an extra trip. Make your mom smile with the lovely scents of fragrance.

LEATHER HANDBAGS: Handbags are a favorite with women all over the world. Get a clue on your mom's favorites by either snooping in her closet or stopping by the purse section in your local department store. For those who can afford to spend a little extra on your mother's gift (and by that I mean $300 and up), get your mom a designer classic that she could carry around ten years from now. If your mother is into color, purchase her a handbag that is a nice red or green color. You will be surprised at how happy she is that you've given her a present she can use regularly. Buying a matching wallet might not be such a bad idea either.

WATCH: See that your mom tells time with style by giving her a beautiful, trendy watch. There are so many styles to choose from these days, so its virtually impossible to choose on that isn't up a woman's standards. It may be better to find a watch with a leather band because it saves you the hassle of getting links taken out. A watch with diamonds (or cubic zorconia) around the face of the watch dresses it up a bit more and can take the look to another level. Impress your mom with this gift and she will not be disappointed.

SWEATER: Buying the right type of sweater for your mom can take a bit of time, but not as much time if you know the textures she likes or even the brand name of the sweater. Turtlenecks, v-necks, and square cuts come to mind. Cashmere, chenille, or a simple rayon stretch are among the types of sweater fabrics and depending upon which you decide to buy, they could be a bit pricey. My advice is to take advantage of the Best Friday after Thanksgiving sale and get your mother a sweater she will want to wear for the rest of this cold winter!

GIFT BASKETS: Gift baskets are fun, not only because they include various items, but also the price range can vary with however much you have in your pockets! Things to put inside a gift basket include wine, chocolates, manicure/pedicure products, fruit, magazines, robes, and many, many more. She will get a kick out of knowing that you some of the things inside the basket fit her personality, so make this present a personalized one!

NECKLACE: What woman could refuse such a wonderful gift. Necklaces enhance the chest area and can be considered one of the best accessories to any outfit. Costume jewelry is okay too, if you are on a budget. However, make certain that the necklace still looks refine and not tawdry. Diamonds are a girl's best friend so give mom a necklace that screams couture!

PAJAMAS: Whether its a fleece or flannel pajama set, or even a full length gown, a woman can never have too many
nightgowns to wear to bed. If it is pretty cold where you reside, then you definitely want to find her something warm so that she doesn't freeze. If it is warm, then something knee length with short or quarter-length sleeves would be more appropriate. Comfort is also extremely important so make certain the pajamas are not too tight. Buying pj's is a gift any mother would greatly appreciate.

DIGITAL CAMERA: Hey, women love the gadgets too! What better way to give your mother a gift that she can use to store as many memory photos as possible. The technology of digital camera's are so innovative today, that you can find one small enough to fit in the palm of her hand! Do not forget to by a memory card, and extra batteries, for they are not included.

ART: This is a unique gift within itself, but it says a lot about both the giver and the receiver. Express how much your mom means to you with a lovely painting. Art can be pricey depending upon the place that you buy it, but be inventive. Just imagine your mother hanging up the art and thinking of her darling son or daughter with a big grin every time she lays eyes on it.

ORNAMENTS: A crystal dove, teddy bear, or heart that your mom can position on her desk at work, in the kitchen or even in the bathroom will definitely add sentimental value because of the beauty that exudes from this gift. Something like this will surely bring a tear to mom's eyes. Just like the art, ornaments can be a bit pricey, starting from $100 and up.
