1. The sooner you can realize that there is no such thing as a knight in shining armor, the better off you will be. Every time you sit around, waiting for that guy to come and save you, you might as well forget about it.

2. Prepare for your life as if you will never meet Mr. Right. Save your own money to buy a house, and to raise your children, and to retire. Don't ever think that someone else is going to pay for those things for you.

3. Do not rely on someone else for your happiness. As soon as you place that responsibility in the hands of someone else, you give that person the opportunity to disappoint you.

4. See the good in people despite their faults. Even though there may be no knight in shining armor, there are still nice guys around. Just don't let them suck you in to their silly stories. If you realize that they have faults, and share with them the positive experiences you can, you'll be able to enjoy male counterparts without allowing them to destroy your happiness.

5. Believe in yourself. No matter how many people tell you you can't make it on your own, don't ever believe this. You can and you will.

6. Stand up for what you believe. Being able to sleep at night is important. If you sacrifice your values, you're never going to get any sleep.

7. Make sacrifices to get where you need to be. If you need to forego having a morning cup of coffee for six months to save for a better car for transportation to work, do it. If you are going to make it alone, you have to do what it takes.

8. Find out what you really like and pursue it. Have something in your life that makes you happy that noone can take away. You might have a small garden of your own, or a hobby like playing poker or writing articles, even!

9. Don't satisfy for less than what you want. If you are going to date, make sure the guy meets your expectations.

10. Be good to yourself and demand this from others. Don't let anyone treat you badly.
