Top Ten Men's Slippers for Christmas 2006

Stephanie Dray
For every man who has to take the dog out at night, there are two feet in need of slippers. Maybe the guy you're thinking of this holiday season lounges around on Sunday afternoons in a robe, reading the funnies. Maybe his feet always get cold when he takes the trash out back before bed. Whatever the reason, it will soon be the season to pamper him with a great pair of men's slippers. Here are ten pairs of men's slippers to consider:

1. Globe Castro Shoe Slippers. This pair of men's slippers is particularly classy and comes in both solids and patterns like plaid and pinstripe. With a faux sheep fur lining and a sturdy rubber sole, they're one of the most popular sellers this year. Practical and manly, they are sure to suit his needs whether he's getting the paper, or curled up with the sniffles.

2. L. B. Evans Yukon Slippers.Another popular brand, these men's slippers could pass for a pair of docker shoes. They have a soft-suede upper, a padded footbed with a fluffy lining, and a flexible indoor/outdoor sole for easy walking. The moccasin style is well suited to men's slippers, and these are a classy pair with a price-tag to match.

3. Cozi Kama Men's Slippers. But if you like the Yukon slipper and don't want to pay quite that much, this men's slipper is a near imitation. The stitching is a little rougher, and customers claim that the shoe keeps their feet a little bit too warm for comfort. But if you live in the North, you're likely to cast these complaints aside.

4. Northside Frederick. These men's slippers are also a moccasin-style, but only vaguely. They resemble a shoe, or a slip-on loafer. Very high quality matched with durability gets this pair of men's slippers high marks from customers. But I'm struck by the neatness of appearance. It's hard to make a slipper that's both masculine and attractive, but that combination is struck here.

5. Dempsey Suede A-line Slippers. If you're looking for something a little more casual, and a lot less expensive, this pair of men's slippers from Target should be on your list. At $15, this furry-lined foot cradle is the perfect compliment to a pair of plaid pajamas. And don't discount the rubber sole - it will keep your guy from slipping.

6. Demitri Suede Scuffs . If your guy is more the type to just slip into a pair of backless scuffs, you might as well invest in this bargain pair of men's slippers for $13 at Target. They're lined in faux shearling, and are embroidered with ornamental stitching.

7. Eurelle Clog Slipper. This pair of men's slippers is simple. It's a slide, and comes in dark or taupe. It's the real fleece lining and reasonable price that get them onto the list.

8. Team Brand Comfy Feet Scuff Slippers. If your guy is into a sports team, D & K Products might have the slippers for you. They're available in all kinds of colors and complete with team logos. Quirky men's slippers to be sure, but cute, and priced at about $20.

9. L.B. Evans 'Duke Opera' Slipper. This pair of men's slippers is for the urbane sophisticate. The smooth, buttery soft black leather upper is made to look like a laceless shoe. When it comes to men's slippers, how can you go wrong with something that looks like you might find it on Hugh Hefner's foot.

10. Old Friend Bootie. But sometimes a man doesn't want to be Hugh Hefner. (No, really!) Sometimes, he just wants a good warm pair of Chewbacca Slippers. And this pair of men's slippers will do the trick. With a plus fleece lining, it will keep not just the foot, but the ankles warm as well. Whichever style you choose, somewhere a pair of feet is sure to be grateful!

    Mmm, love me some sheepskin slippers. Unfortunately, so does my dog. (;
