Sony PS3 - The much anticipated PS3 might not have sat well with everyone who used it, including me, because of a few awry controls and minor problems, but overall this is one impressive machine. The best of the PS3 is yet to be seen though, as more and more technology and games up to its standards are released. While the PS3 lost the title of the best gaming console (arguably) this year, 2007 is bound to be a good one for PS3 fans.
Nintendo Wii - Arguably the current champion of the the gaming console world, the Nintendo Wii puts fun back in the games. Instead of relying on high-definition graphics and powered up processors, the Wii relies on its low cost, backward compatibility, the concept of "fun" and its highly advanced motion sensing controllers. The Wii is one gadget that every gamer really desires today...of course, the PS3 might be back with a vengeance soon enough.
Canon Poweshot SD 700 IS - Although the price may seem a bit steep to some ($300 and up), the Powershot SD 700 Is has everything you could ever want in a compact camera. An attractive design, superb picture quality, noise reduction, and other awesome features make this offering by Canon the perfect gadget for those in photography. If you can get past the awkward placement of the on/off button, there really is nothing that should prevent you from labeling this the perfect compact camera!
Dell XPS M1710 (Core 2 Duo) - Most of the gadgets developed in 2006 centered around entertainment. And that's the section that saw the greatest publicity and the biggest leaps in terms of technology. While the gaming gadgets duked it out, the PC world wasn't sitting around either. The Dell XPS M1710 that costs over $3800 at its full configuration, has enough power and VRAM to put the PS3 to shame. For those of use who would rather just stay clear of the consoles and stick to the PC machines, this was a welcome gadget - a laptop that could compete with the best of the desktops in power, size, and even weight!
Microsoft Zune - While some may disagree, the Microsoft Zune is a much better deal than the iPod. Especially as MS gears up to get rid of the complaints that the people had with this music/video gadget. It's almost as small as the iPod, costs about the same, but works way better. The number of formats that it supports is about to get a steroid boost, and so are its WiFi capabilities. The Zune marketplace is about to be set up with some pretty awesome tools shortly here as well. This is another great gadget towards the end of 2006 that will probably shine much brighter in 2007 along with the PS3.
The other gadgets on the Top Ten Most Wanted Gadgets of 2006 are:
Alienware Aurora mALX
Samsung Blackjack
Apple iPod Nano (2nd Generation, 8 GB, Black)
Fujifilm FinePix F30
Toshiba Gigabeat S MES30VW
