Top Ten Mother's Day Quotes

Lisette Suarez
There are many Mother's Day Quotes and if you are one of the lucky ones to still have yours or you are one yourself, I wish a very Happy Mother's Day and hope you enjoy my ten best quotes.

1. " A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to make leaning unnecessary" - Dorothy Canfield Fisher

This Mother's Day Quote is so true, because we as mothers always know when something is going in our children's lives, whether they want to admit to us or not. They don't have to lean on us for support, because we are there ready for them. I believe this applies to adult children as well, because my mother is always there supporting me and I don't know what I'll do when she is no longer here.

2. "The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before the woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new" - Rajneesh: Special Quotes for Mother's Day

Obvious statement, but I like it because once a woman has a child of her own, she instantly becomes a new mother without ever knowing how to do anything. She knows when her child is not well, yes she may be a little afraid of at first, but that is something that will go away once the child starts to grow up.

3. "All mothers are working mothers" - Author Unknown: Special Quotes for Mother's Day

Once you become a mother, your job never ends. Why? Because from the moment you see your child in your hands, you are already thinking of their future, how they will be like, what they will look like. You will also be thinking of how to protect them and help them to be independent people all while hoping that all your hard work pays off. And one day that they will thank you for all you have done for them.

4. "Mother-that was the bank where we deposited all our hurts and worries" - T. DeWitt Talmage: Special Quotes for Mother's Day

How many times did you go out to a party at seventeen years old and your parents would say don't come home too late? That right there is a worry that they our parents faced because even though they knew where we were and with who we were, they still worried that something would happen to us and told us to be careful.

5. "A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie" - Tenneya Jordan

This is probably my favorite Mother's Day Quote, because I have said this many times before when my small children would want dessert and there were only enough for them. My parents did it when me and my siblings were small as well and I am sure that you have said it at one point or another in your life as well.

6. "When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child." - Sophia Loren.

Another good Mother's Day Quote in which I can relate to. Anywhere I go, whether it is to buy food, clothing or something for enjoyment, I always think of my children and whether they will like it, need it, or play with it. It is a constant thing that I think will never go away, not even when my children become adults.

7. " A man loves his sweetheart the most, his wife the best, but his mother the longest" - Irish Proverb

This Mother's Day Quote has some truth to it in that sons seem to be closer to their mothers and that if they treat their mothers like queens, that you will be looking forward to the royal treatment as well. But this doesn't only apply to men, it can apply to women as well especially if the family only has daughters. I know that my mother and I are very close and I think that if I had a brother it would still be the same.

8. "A mother understands what a child does not say"- Jewish Proverb

Another good Mother's Day Quote in which I enjoy. Take a look as this scenario. A child comes home and doesn't say much, instantly the mother knows that something has happened and hugs her child. He had received a much lower grade on a test despite his hard work and was upset about it. His mom knew right away without him having to say anything. These type of situation has happened to us at some time or another and it is nice that we are able to provide comfort and support when it is needed.

9. "A mother who is really a mother is never free"- Honore de Balzac

This Mother's Day Quote is basically saying that we do everything for our children, our grandchildren and great - grandchildren for those fortunate enough to live that long. Once we have children we are there for them and nothing else matters in the world and even as they grow older and have their own children we still feel as if we need to support and protect them at all times.

10. "When a woman is twenty, a child deforms her; when she is thirty, he preserves her; and when forty, he makes her young again" - Leon Blum

In this Mother's Day Quote is says that 'a child deforms her at twenty', but I don't know if a child deforms us but I do know that they make us work in ways we never did before. I do believe that at forty they make mothers young again because I know women who are in their forties and their children in their twenties will complain of aches and pain and tiredness and yet the mom is walking around as if she miraculously found the cure for all these ailments.

I love everything in print and showing my three children the joys as well. I believe that writing should be done whether you wish to gain from it or not as a way to express yourself.  View profile
