1. Lean on Me. I don't know why, but whenever people hear this song, it instantly gets people wanting to either dance, sing along, or even light their lighters and sway them back and forth. It's just unbelievable how much crowd appeal this song seems to have.
2. Separate Ways. If you've got a crowd of adults between 30 and up, this is a good song choice for karaoke. One reason the song goes well with the crowd is because it's probably the most popular song of the band Journey. The song also pleases the crowd because it's hard to sing, and has some real power chords throughout the song.
3. Independence Day by Martina McBride. Any popular song by Martina McBride is going to go over well with those familiar with country artists. Independence Day works because it is one of Martina's better known songs and it has some incredible power chords in it to just belt out and impress everyone.
4. Since You've Been Gone by Kelly Clarkson. As long as the crowd is either young or familiar with pop music, you can win over many hearts with a Kelly Clarkson tune such as this one. Of course, you've got to have the pipes to pull it off, and you probably also want to dance around while you sing it.
5. Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson. If you've got some country song lovers out in the crowd, or anyone who just likes to party and have fun, the song Redneck Woman by Gretchen Wilson is going to really help you with crowd motivation.
6. Piece of My Heart by Janice Joplin. If you can get some raspiness to your voice like Janice was able to do, you'll really get crowds hopping with a song by Janice Joplin. This one always gets people on the dance floor as well.
7. New York, New York by Frank Sinatra. I've seen alot of people place highly or win karaoke contests with this very popular song by Frank Sinatra.
8. Sweet Home Alabama. I never could figure out why people love to hear this song so much. It's almost like they've been waiting all night when someone gets up and performs this motivational karaoke song. Try it, and you'll see what I mean!
9. Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley. I've actually seen people fight over this song at karaoke competitions. Chill out, because probably any popular Elvis tune will score you big points with the crowds!
10. Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. If you've got the more alternative crowd, throw in a karaoke song by Nirvana or another hip alternative band like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam or Red Hot Chili Peppers. These will motivate the crowd!
