Top Ten Must See Summer Movies for 2010

Great Summer Movie Flicks at Theatres in Summer 2010

Christi Bowers
Here are some must see movies for the summer of 2010. Many of these are long awaited movies, like Twilight's third installment. During the summer, everyone seems to have more time to go to the movies. Kids are out of school for the summer, and teachers get a much needed break. Or, perhaps you took a week of vacation and you plan to stay in the area: a staycation so it's called. Whatever the reason for the extra time, watching a summer movie is a great way to spend time. You can watch for the pure entertainment value, to spend extra time with family or friends, or to learn something about life.

1. Inception (2010). I think this movie will be the most interesting of all the summer movies, although the summer of 2010 has some hefty competition. Leonardo DiCaprio who stars in this movie, rarely disappoints. You'll also see a revival of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who starred in Third Rock from the Sun. I'll bet you haven't thought about that television show for awhile! This movie is going to be a summer of 2010 huge box office success and hit for many reasons. First, it has a unique idea: The crime of implanting something into someone's mind. This isn't your average crime movie. Second, the special effects are going to be something to witness! This is summer movie not to miss. The movie comes out on July 16, 2010.

2. The Last Airbender (2010). This summer of 2010 movie came out in movie theatres on July 1, 2010, right before the July 4th holiday weekend. If you're looking for a summer time animated movie, here's your choice. This summer time movie is another movie with incredible special effects. Think about a young preteen boy who learns he has the skills to control the elements, such as air and water. Add this boy being frozen inside an iceburg, which is thawed out in present day. What will happen?

3. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse (2010). Finally, the third Twilight movie is out for the summer of 2010! This Twilight movie is in IMAX, which is a big thing for this summer. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie opened on June 30, 2010. The same stars are present in the cast, such as Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. My question for you is, do you like Taylor's hair short or long like it was in the first movie? I prefer it long, I think. Dakota Fanning is added to the cast for this third Twilight movie. If you're looking for a summer time vampire flic, this is your summer movie.

4. Sex and the City 2 (2010). You're running out of time to catch this summer chick flic, as it opened on May 27, 2010. However, it's still playing in many theatres. I couldn't believe they came up with a second movie, still starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Kim Cattrall, as well as Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon. Chris Noth even returns as Carrie's (Sarah Jessica Parker) husband. The excitement of this movie takes places in the Middle East, an interesting new place for the New Yorkers to venture!

5. Knight and Day (2010). This movie stars Tom Cruise. Could we even have a summer go by without a Tom Cruise movie? I don't think so. Please, oh please, Tom, don't ever let us down! Anyway, Knight and Day is an adventure movie, with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz pairing up again. Remember Vanilla Sky?

6. Grown Ups (2010. If you're looking for a summer comedy, you've chosen the right summer movie for 2010. This is a reunion that happens due to a death of an old teacher, and the guys certainly have some fun. You can imagine that any movie with Adam Sandler is not going to be just a normal serious film!

7. The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010. This movie opens on July 14, 2010 and stars Nicholas Cage as the sorcerer. You never know what role he will take on next! It seems as if many of his latest roles have been about him having special powers, such as being able to see the future or now holding the powers of a master sorcerer.

8. Salt (2010). If you're looking for a sex symbol in your summer movie pick, you've found Angelina Jolie in Salt. What's ever steamier about this movie is she plays a Russian spy. What could be sexier than that? Most of the movies in the past about spies have been about men, so it's refreshing to a see a spy movie about a female spy.

9. Middle Men (2010). Middle Men is releasing on August 6, 2010, so it's one of the later releases for summer movies of 2010. I really like movies with Luke Wilson. I mean, go figure, my favorite movie of all times has got to be Old School. In this summer flic for 2010, Luke Wilson is a successful businessman who gets lured into the internet porn industry. He starts making lots of money, but he is also about to be in lots of trouble.

10. Resident Evil: AfterLife (2010). Don't worry, there are not one but two flics with sexy chics this summer. Milla Jovovich returns to star in this latest Resident Evil movie. The movie comes out in 3D September 10th. The kids will be back in school, but summer's not officially over until later in September.

What are your choices for some must see summer movies for 2010?
