Kurt Warner heard the supportive crowd in Arizona chanting M-V-P following the Monday Night showdown against their NFC West divisional foes. It was a heartening reminder of his days in St. Louis. Warner continued his magical season as he led the Cardinals to barn burning 29 to 24 victory over the San Francisco 49ers. He threw three touchdown passes and no interceptions. He completed 32 passes in 42 attempts for 328 total yards. Warner has surpassed the 300-yard mark in three consecutive outings. He leads the NFL in passer rating as well as completion percentage.
Warner has thrown 19 touchdown passes and only six interceptions. He has completed 238 passes in 337 attempts for 2,760 yards and a completion percentage of 70.6.
Quote: "Man, it's fun. It's fun to pull these (close games) out. It would have been a heartbreaker to have lost it."
2. (1) Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers (4-5): 106.3 Quarterback Rating
For the first time in over a month, Philip Rivers is not the number one ranked quarterback. After chucking two interceptions in the Chargers 20 to 19 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Rivers' quarterback rating took a hit. However, he completed 27 passes in 36 attempts for 316 yards. He also added two more touchdown passes to his 2008 stats. It was a respectable performance from Rivers, as his two touchdown passes were in clutch situations, including an 8-yard touchdown pass to Antonio Gates with less than seven minutes remaining in the game. However, it was not enough to withstand the reemergence of Kurt Warner.
Rivers has thrown an NFL-high 21 touchdown passes versus eight interceptions. He has completed 176 passes in 270 attempts for 2,354 years and a completion percentage of 65.2.
3. (3) Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints (4-5): 96.1 Quarterback Rating
It was another shoddy performance for Drew Brees as the New Orleans Saints lost a key divisional game to the Atlanta Falcons. He completed 31 passes in 58 attempts for 422 yards. Nevertheless, he threw three interceptions and only two touchdown passes. His first touchdown pass occurred in the fourth quarter when the Falcons had already built up a substantial lead. Brees uttered his frustrations following the disappointing loss. "This was extremely frustrating. We're better than this. I look at all three (interceptions) and just shake my head," said Brees. The Saints are in trouble, especially considering the level that the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Falcons are performing.
Brees has thrown 17 touchdown passes and ten interceptions. He has completed 241 passes in 362 attempts for an NFL-high 2,985 yards and a completion percentage of 66.6.
4. (5) Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (5-4): 103.5 Quarterback Rating
The Dallas Cowboys face a must-win situation when they face the Washington Redskins on the Redskins' home turf on Sunday. They are expecting their star quarterback to return to action. They have struggled immensely ever since Tony Romo injured his pinky finger over a month ago. However, Romo's injury is not the primary root of the Cowboys' struggles. There are many variables. With that being said, the Cowboys are a better football team with Romo in the lineup.
Romo has thrown 14 touchdown passes and only five interceptions. He has completed 128 passes in 200 attempts for 1,689 yards and a completion percentage of 64.0.
5. (4) Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (4-5): 93.3 Quarterback Rating
It was a forgettable outing for Aaron Rodgers as the Packers fell to the Minnesota Vikings 28 to 27 in a crucial divisional game. Rodgers failed to throw a single touchdown pass for the first time this season. He only completed 15 passes in 26 attempts for 142 yards. He did not throw an interception; however, he gave up two safeties to the Vikings defense. Clearly, Rodgers has seen better days. "It was a combination of we didn't do the fundamentals the way we know how to and me probably holding the ball a little too long," said the dejected Rodgers.
Rodgers has 13 touchdown passes versus five interceptions. He has completed 182 passes in 288 attempts for 2,124 yards and a completion percentage of 63.2.
6. (6) Donovan McNabb, Philadelphia Eagles (5-4): 90.7 Quarterback Rating
McNabb was unable to lead his team past the New York Giants. Five years ago, he would have made some kind of game-altering play.
McNabb has thrown 13 touchdown passes and five interceptions. He has completed 199 passes in 324 attempts for 2,372 yards and a completion percentage of 61.4.
7. (NR) Jay Cutler, Denver Broncos (5-4): 89.5 Quarterback Rating
Jay Cutler was practically unstoppable in the fourth quarter against the Cleveland Browns. He amassed 447 total passing yards.
Cutler has thrown 18 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions. He has completed 211 passes in 342 attempts for 2,616 yards and a completion percentage of 61.7.
8. (8) Jason Campbell, Washington Redskins (6-3): 92.4 Quarterback Rating
Campbell had the weekend off after his worst game of the year against the Pittsburgh Steelers last Monday night.
Campbell has thrown eight touchdown passes and only two interceptions. He has completed 176 passes in 273 attempts for 1,960 yards and a completion percentage of 64.5.
9. (7) Chad Pennington, Miami Dolphins (5-4): 92.6 Quarterback Rating
Despite the lack of jaw-dropping statistics, Pennington is the MVP of the Dolphins in 2008.
Pennington has thrown eight touchdown passes and five interceptions. He has completed 185 passes in 278 attempts for 2,200 yards and a completion percentage of 66.5.
10. (9) Eli Manning, New York Giants (8-1): 88.8 Quarterback Rating
Eli Manning is a huge part of the Giants dominance in 2008. Of course, the trio of adept running backs makes his job that much easier.
Eli Manning has thrown 14 touchdown passes and six interceptions. He has completed 170 passes in 281 attempts for 1,926 yards and a completion percentage of 60.5.
Falling out: Kyle Orton, Chicago Bears (90.8 QB Rating)
Other notable players: Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons (89.9 QB Rating), Brett Favre, New York Jets (89.8 QB Rating), Jeff Garcia, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (89.6 QB Rating), David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars (87.6 QB Rating), Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts (84.8 QB Rating)
